Quick update on the post i put a good few hours ago...

They've offered me £200 in compensation.
They've agreed to pay for the geometry wheel alignment, front and rear.
Also going to fix the wing-mirror adjustment dial.
Free service too.

Should i settle for the £200?

Its more the principle of it if im honest, i bought a car through a trusted VW dealer advertised at 36k... and when i picked it up it was 39.3k.

But never the less... Its still faster and nicer sounding than my GTD was and has fancy toys so yeno  :smug:

Sounds good like! I'd take that. Should get a hunters 4 wheel alignment and milk them for their worth

Re LEDs info, check this recent thread http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=270859.msg2481815#msg2481815

But in a nutshell:

Link to a good fitting thread:
http://www.vwgolf.net.au/showthread.php?8502-DIY-Interior-Lights-Install-MKVI-Golf-lt-lt-lt-PICTURE-INTENSIVE-gt-gt-gt

Bulbs required:
Vanity lights 36mm festoon (3 or 6 smd)
Map lights front and rear 501 T10 W5W (get the shorter ones otherwise they touch the light cover)
Glovebox  501 T10 W5W
Driver footwell  501 T10 W5W
Boot festoon 42mm

They have polarity and will only work if polarity is correct, so if they don't work at first, turn them around.  Interior lights are not monitored so won't throw up errors but just get any of the canbus error free one from ebay.

These 501s are decent

just went and installed one of the Red LEDS in the passenger footwell... works nd all... but its really dim? I had to fiddle with the contact points on the LED abit so they touched the housing... and when i up the light intensity on the DIS the LED doesnt react, whether thats up or down.... any suggestions? :(

The link JayGTD sent is complete but seems very expensive! I bought them through eBay as Booth11 has suggested, paid 15 for all of them. Installation is simple (link posted by Booth11), but fiddly, takes a bit of patience.

To adjust footwell intensity, mine didn't work at first but at the second go it was fine. Try doing it when you're parked and the ignition in ON position (i.e. engine not running). As you might have noticed intensity can only go up and down in 5% steps, bring it upto 50 or so at least to see a difference.

Which lights did you get Yabot?  When I first swapped my footwells I got another type of red LED that were absolute crap, extremely dim even with brightness upped to 100% and a nightmare to get into the holder.  They were the type with a red plastic contact cover and glass bulb cover.  They got binned and I replaced them with the type I linked to earlier in this thread and had no issues with these all.

I adjusted footwell intensity in the DIS without engine running, as gaurav suggested.  Notched it up to 70% initially then went out for a test spin, and on return adjusted % down to so it gave a nice ambience without being a distraction whist driving.

Maybe a dud LED?  I'm sure those posted by JayGTD are good but plenty of decent ones on eBay for less.

Ahhhh yes.... the sound remarkably similar to the ones i have got... haha. Yeah i went ahead and ordered two of them and will give them a go when they come, hopefully be all good.

Just a quick question... when you floor it, do you get a slight rattle from the exhaust? Because i do, and whereas its not the most bothersome thing in the world just want to know if its normal all not?

Cheers fellas

lol, is this the culprit?

Yeah they're rubbish. Get the other type, brighter and much, much easier to get in the holder.  That's why I recommended that type

Not a fella , but never noticed any exhaust rattle when flooring it but maybe drowned out by stereo

No worries mate

Haha, that's why they are so cheap for 20, gotta give 'em away.  Looking forward to seeing your xenons when they go on, assuming you can get them coded right

Pfft i wont be coding them myself i can assure you of that, i never touched any sort of coding before or anything so i wont even bother.

Will be using this company: http://www.vagtechnik.co.uk/ even if i dont get them working 100% right, i still feel as though they'll update the front end of the car nicely...

Also... (just checked out your pics) how do you get your exhaust so damn clean? Mines actually black, not a single bit of chrome on it  :undecided: And is your MFD the Highline one and colour? Looks so nice... and Pristine...
