bit of advice roll cage related ish

as some of u are aware i ftted a omp rollcage to my mk2 trackcar

heres what i need to know after i fitted cage welded plates in floor and bolted thru plates and floor i have excess thread sticking thru the floor now should i double nut it and cut the rest of and under seal them or just leave one nut on and cut off excess then under seal also same as the eyelets for the harnesses what should i do with those to

could you not just leave one nut and drop a weld onto the nut/bolt so it wont ever come loose and you can forget about it and then underseal ?

that was my other thought but didnt want to risk weakening the bolts in anyway mayby thats just being stupid tho

this may help a little as u can see the bolts go down thru plate then thru underside of car

on the under side of car i have excess thread poking past the nut



if this dont help il post a pic of under side tommorow  :smiley:

I would do as I said above is not going to weaken the bolt by just doing a decent spot weld.. Or you could have the thread end on inside of car ?

If your worried, use nyloc locknuts (or similar) and chop the rest off.
Out of interest, is there anything between the angle of the plates you have welded in (under the top 2 bolts in the pic) as that looks like you could crush the angle by doing the bolts up tight/they might settle over time and come loose. Im presuming you are going to weld ends onto the plates too judging by the way you still have your earth clamp on? Im also presuming you have something similar on the underside of the shell?
