Mk3 ABF Fault codes - can't find what they mean!
« on: 18 February 2009, 09:11 »
Hey guys, Used mikesters fault code reader on my car the other day and had 3 fault codes :undecided:

Ive had a look on the other links to see what they are but it was inconclusive.

Codes I had were:

00523
17978

00285 - think thats ABS because my sensor is unplugged at the moment (new loom on friday)

Can anyone help me out?

Cheers

Cheers bud :)

As expected 00285 is the front right ABS sensor because its not plugged in atm as im having a new loom fitted on that side:

17978 is to do with the imobiliser which must have been because I had the ignition on but not imobolised :S if that makes sense!

00523 doesnt come up though :(

00523 IAT Sensor - Temp High - Circuit Low - G42 A
00523 IAT Sensor - Temp Low - Circuit High - G42 A

So start with the inlet air temp sensor :)

Thats what it came up with on the reader when i checked the codes against the book... But you reckoned it had been unplugged recently and driven so maybe that fault code was old... :/

Maybe if you slam it some more it will fix it.. lol

Yer I forgot what you said mate :embarassed:

Hopefully the garage will look at it on friday and see if it does need changing but sounds like it was because I had it unplugged for a day
