Alloy wheel size offset etc for 2018 gtd
« on: 13 April 2018, 00:21 »
I’m on the look out for a set up cheapish 18” alloys to put my winter tyres on for next winter . They are 225 40r18. For info I currently have 19” Brescia’s on a 2018 gtd.

I’ve seen some alloys that are:

18”
5X112
ET35
8J

Will these fit the gtd? I know I need 5x112 but not sure about the rest , ET , offset , width etc

Any advice would be greatly  appreciated

35mm is a bit too much offset for the front.
It might *just* squeeze under with a 225 tyre but would be close at best.
That size would be nice and flush at the rear though.

Standard 18 inch factory fitted wheels are 7.5J width and ET49 offset.

A friend of mine has some genuine gtd 18" wheels with tyres, done 200 miles or so before he swapped for 19" they or off a mk 7 .5 gtd with no marks on them, he listed them on ebay for £1000 wheels and tyres only for the bidder who won not paying, so he still has them.

I've got that spec on my GTI for the winter (8x18 ET35 with 225/40 R18).

They do fill the arches lovely but as Exonian has said, unfortunately they do catch on the front with uneven road surfaces.

I have lowering springs fitted though so you could be just ok if you're standard, and you could start playing with the wheelarch screw mod (basically tucking the lining up) if not.

But given what I've experienced, if I could choose again I wouldn't go as far as ET35 to be honest. The GTD 18s sound like a good option but I guess it depends on your budget including winter tyres.

I just bought 4 of these and confirm they are genuine, see thread below re- are all GTI wheels made by Ronal.

I bought mine at 99.50ea, but they have now put them up to 150ea.

You probably would want to go for an ET45 IMO that would fit better possibly 8.5J.

I have some wheels I would sell If your interested - Theyre 17” Audi TT wheels with new Michelin PS4 (probably done 100 miles now)

Wheels are very good condition. Ideal for spare wheels

They’re the right offset and width for a GTI/GTD 8”x ET47

I’ve got a set of almost brand new 18 inch winters off my A3 that cost me 450 so looking for 18” alloys atm. But thanks for the offer
