Title: VAG part numbers for batteries, bulbs, fluids & other stuff
Post by: Teutonic_Tamer on 22 October 2008, 14:11
Official VAG part numbers, available from all VAG marque and TPS outlets.  Prices (+VAT) are from ETKA (unless stated otherwise), so in reality, dealer prices will usually be about 15-20% lower.  If anyone does actually buy any, then can post the actual price you paid (including retail, and any "discount"), and I will re-edit my post.

batteries (normally top-spec german Varta items):

FLUIDS:
VW G12++ coolant additive (antifreeze concentrate)

VW Brake Fluid, DOT4, low viscosity (for ABS/ESP), VW 501.14 (VW 501.14 is compulsory for my2008 and newer!)

ENGINE OILS:
For interesting info discussing LongLife vs Time & Distance servicing regimes and oils, look here: www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=65779, and here: www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=98261

Quantum LongLife2, 0w30 (HTHS 3.0), VW 503.00/506.00/506.01; (fully synthetic)

Quantum LongLife3, 5w30, VW 504.00/507.00; (fully synthetic)

BULBS:
These are all top quality OEM specification bulbs, only sourced from Philips, Osram or GE.

Notes:
For the "blue" bulbs, these are just a normal bulb with a blue outer coating on the glass, and produce an "ice white" light output, similar in colour to HIDs/Xenons (and not the "chavvy blue" tinge).

"LL" after the bulb designation simply means a "LongLife" version of the standard bulb.

Bulb sets:

HID (Xenon gas dishcarge) headlamp capsules:

Halogen headlamp & front foglamp bulbs:

mini Halogen bulbs: (use in certain indicator, sidelamp and tail lamps)

SCC tungsten bulbs: (typical indicator, reverse, rear fog, and tail lamps)

festoon bulbs (glass cylinders with contacts each end): (number plate lamps, interior lamps, make-up, footwell and door puddle lights)

capless bulbs (bulbs without any "cap"): (side lamps, interior lamps, make-up, footwell and door puddle lights)

miscelaneous bulbs (which don't fit into any of the above categories):

If I have missed any specific bulbs out, reply to the thread, and state the model of car they are for, along with the model year too (indicated by the 10th digit of your VIN).
