Aircon - Clutch missing!
« on: 08 June 2010, 10:39 »
Hey,

It appears that the clutch from the aircon unit on my recently bought 2000 mk4 is missing, which would explain the reasoning behind it not working!!

I'm quite handy when it comes to car mechanics, what sort of job is it to change (full unit or clutch)?

can you get hold of the clutch seperately....

I've got an account with TPS but the new parts are still quite pricey!

Many thanks

Might be wrong but I am guessing it has been removed for a reason I suspect the compressor has failed.

I have never known one to drop off, I take it the belt is missing as well.

I'm yet to properly check as it's been hammering down with rain since i found out from the garage that was going to be servicing the aircon system.

Does it have a seperate drive or does it come off the main serpintine belt?  i assume its got a seperate one as the main belt is fine.

i'm used to working on corrados and mk3s so aircon isn't somthing i'm as familiar with
