Ok, heres and updated piccy of my baby!
He's going into body shop to get the dints and rust on the doors fixed, and to get the bumpers colour coded...
Oh and some div not to be named jumped on my front bumper bending the arm..  I'll do that myself lol
Considering getting the sprinter vents welded into the front wing, they look fruity!
Any suggestions?
El x
-
looks nice! the wheels look massive, what size are they?? I think the wing vents look well good, go for it!!
-
Thanks, they are only 17's
El x
-
Get some half smoked tinted rear clusters like on mine:(http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d181/Neaty/unloweredfromrearleft.jpg)
makes a hell of a difference to the back, gets rid of the orange and white that doesnt quite go with any colour really!
-
Buy them or just DIY? I have a spare set which a mate would spray with that tinting stuff.
Originally want crystal smoked rears, headlights, side repeaters and fog lights. would suit the colour much better than just crystal.
El x
-
It would prob be best to buy them to be honest, my mate tinted his lights at the weekend and it just streaked! but if ur a dab hand with a rattle can then give it a whirl, if u have a spare set then even if it does go wrong it wont matter!
Have a look in parts for sale, i bet someone is breaking a mark 2 with them on!
-
looking good, will be even better when you get it back from the bodyshop
-
yeah, 17's are the ones :D
-
looks great!!
got those alloys on my mums mk4!
who much have you lowered yours??
-
It's been lowered 60ml
Can't wait till it comes out of the bodyshop, gonna give it a proper good polish! Will post up pics afterwards!
EL x
-
looks way different since I last saw it
looking sweet though
I did my rear lights with tinting stuff came out good i thought
-
lookin good hunny
-
i tinted ones on my car and my mates you can get it to work and look good but dont buy that $hit from halfords cause that doesnt work. real ones do look better if you got the money.
-
YAY! Just bought a splitter and GTI spoiler
Can't wait till it's all done.
Was completely standard plus the alloys when you saw it wasn't it Rob?
El x
-
wot about getting the side strips removed and filled, and the arches blended into the wings and colour coded?
Always think blended arches look better on mk2 on big wheels
Looking good so far though
-
I've actually got a set of spare arches and skirts that I was going to spray up and see what it looked like...dunno whether I can be bothered...of whether my mate iain can be bothered lol
I didn't get f*ck all support off DemonVW cept one guy.. :undecided:
El x
-
yeah had small bumpers on
and was on stilts lol
looks good now i must admit
-
Update, just added the splitter and spoiler, got the spare rear lights and sprayed them with tint, lettin them dry and doing another coat...
Will post pictures once it's been in the bodyshop a week on monday!
El x
-
looking good, make sure we get to see the new pics
-
Definately will do! In bout 2 weeks I'm guessing!
Not many people will be able to see much has been done, but if you saw it when it was just a standard driver then you can.. Thats what I'm worried about, people may say..well it looks like a normal GTI
Ah well... Interior is next! A family member does that for a living so I will get that done asap!
El x
-
Car went into the bodyshop today! Would have been done by tuesday night if I took it in at nine when it was spose to be in..ah well should be done by thursday morning! Yay! And I'm not paying for any of it lol
My ex bf is paying to get the doors fixed and my currant bf is paying to get my bumpers sprayed!
Saves me some money after all that I've spent on it!
Bought it for 90 pounds, completely standard. The head gasket had gone on it so I fixed it myself for a minimum of 50 notes for gasket set, oil n air filter etc, then it needed a new thermostat (easy), then it had a corroded sump which was replaced, then a water leak from the intake manifold as the gromit had blown out since it over heated causing the need for a new thermostat, I've had to buy two new tyres for it, its had two brakes pipes replaced, a headlight....
Then the clutch went..in the middle of nowhere!!!!  so i got really angry with it and revved its bollox off and chipped the camshaft...  anyways me and a mate took it apart to see which lope was chipped...however putting it back together again..he did the timing wrong and bent the valves!!! So I bought a donor car for 100 notes and took the cylinder head off and replaced mine! yay! Oh and I removed the p slots and big bumpers from that car aswell!
Overall I've spent just over 600 quid fixing my car. It's all worth it IMO.
Oh yeah and now the indicator problem and my dash lights don't work anymore lol
WILL POST PICS AS SOON AS HE COMES OUT!
-
wish i had the skills you have darl.. im rubbish when it comes to mucky cars, i generally just spectate and sit in the car, and rip the end of my bros finger off playin with pedals, and beep horn... funnily enough he gets very angry when i do that and he's under the bonnet... you think i'd learn
-
lol I can honestly say that nothing else makes me smile more when you beep the horn and someone is under the bonnet  I love it! Even when it happens to me...
Just ask to help if something goes wrong with your car :) you will easily pick something up.
-
haaha i ask to help, but end up picking up a haynes and siting in car out of the way.... lol
-
both our cars are on 17's lowered 60mm, but mine looks slightly lower than your's...
maybe it's cos I have 16v springs or summut.
-
Maybe... I wanted coilovers...
Does yours seem to sit lower at the back ???
-
The 16v Springs are 15mm lower i think. So Dizzie yours will be lowered 60mm on 16v Springs.
-
Ok! My baby is out of the bodyshop! Looks so pretty lol seeing no dints in the doors hehehe
Anyways, pics to come soon... it's a realy crappy day today and he needs a good wash and polish!
Post them asap!
El x
-
Ok finally I got some half decent pics of my golf...
Straight doors, no bit of rust on the drivers door and no black bumpers WOO! (Back bumper is also colour coded cept too close to wall to take pics)

NEXT - MOT Indicators haven't been fixed yet...now have a problem with the main beam and wipers.. quoted £260.49 at main dealer...won't be going there, took it to the guy who did my body work and they will do it SOOO much cheaper coz they know me too
After - My interior is being re-trimmed from grey to dark blue and black, I have my design drawn out and just need to give it to a family member for him to do for me very cheaplyÂÂÂ
And whilst thats being sorted...so is my stereo...boot build yay!
Updates soon!
El x
P.S Should be getting my german plates soon (I feel like I'm just saying that...) MY bf needs to get his act together...they were my xmas present...
-

-
WOOOOOOO!!
Fixed my indicators, just replaced the whole thing lol Now needs to be booked in for it's MOT!
El x
-
Wo! Look at the difference between the new pics and the pic in your sig!
Looking very tidy btw, painting the bumpers has made a big difference.
-
lookin good! u gettin cloth, leather or both for your interior? Great havin family members/friends in the know isnt it.
-
I know it does, many people see and say...well whats different but if you know what a Driver looks like standard you can tell lol
I'm getting half leathers, black on the outsite of the seats (dark blue stitching) and the same blue on the inners! Got a pattern sorted out with blue a lighter blue and silver thread for the inners and doors cards too! Just finding the money at the minute!!!
Should I post the drawings first? Or wait till it's done.... hmmm :smug:
El x
-
 Failed it's MOT...
Both rear registration plate lamps not working.
Nearside front to rear brake pipe excessively corroded.
Offside front to rear brake pipe excessively corroded.
Limiter valve to o/s/r brake pipe excessively corroded.
Offside front brake pipe excessively corroded.
Nearside front shock absorber has a serious fluid leak.
Nearside rear tyre has ply or cords exposed.
Rear service brake application uneven across the axle.
Gay..was quoted:-

-
Looks sweet now chick...
Shame it faied MOT, never mind so did mine on similar stuff. Nothing major tho. Know what you mean bout more money, seems like mines just eating away at my wallet!
I reckon, the next body mod you do is fit 90' spec Big bumber side skirts and G60 Arches?
-
You've read my mind huni!! Find me some! I just don't care now, I'm spendin ALL MY MONEY on my baby because he's worth it! I'm going nuts! WOO! ITs mint!!!!
On another note, car is getting fixed tomorrow and hopefully MOT'd aswell!
-
Ive was given a set of G60 Arches for free the other day! haha!
Just need to get me arse out in the cold and fit them! :embarassed:
-
Car is gettin retested tomorrow!
However ...I wondered what the limiter valve was that it failed on... Turns out my car doens't actually have a limiter valve.. Interesting. And the guy who looked at my car today saids the brake lines wren't excessively corroded... He cleaned everything up and found the shocker wasn't leaking either. Don't take your car to boro tyres!!!
Getting it retested at a different garage and getting our money back from Boro Tyres...
El x
-
god!! some garages are scum bags! i wish you luck with the mot, your cars looking sweet too
vaughny,
-
Thanx hun!
However I got it back from the other garage yesturday! And this is what it faile don...
1. Nearside front suspension arm rubber bush deteriorated resulting in excessive movement.
2. Nearside front shock absorber has serious fluid leak. (Fair enough Boro said that too)
3. Nearside rear parking brake recording little or no effort.
4. Nearside rear brakes recording little or no effort.
Getting it fixed on Monday lol ACK! boody hell!
-
I'm waiting...waiting for the verdict and getting prepared for the large empty space in my purse that will occur at the end of today...
But then again its worth it!
-
Hads it's re-test today, passed obviously lol seen as I spent 178 pounds fixing it!
Had it taxed....so
ITS BACK ON THE ROAD!

Had a bit of a blonde moment today lol my car is burning oil :( so when filling up I forgot to put the oil cap back on!! :embarassed: Now half my bonnet and engine bay is black!!!! I'm so daft!!!! I just can't get over it!!
Also I got my first road kill last night, a poor little bunny rabbit, i felt aweful... :undecided:  I've ran over a cat before but that was under the middle of my car and I saw it run away after, it just hit my front splitter....but this one went under the wheel! In a way it was it's own fault, it ran one way so I swerved the other...then it ran towards me! Kamakazi bunny!!!
-
at least you didnt ask for a 710 cap...
-
uh?
-

Rear tow ring is rusty.
Boot behind the number plate is rusty.
Bottom of passenger door is rusty.

Sprinter vent in offside front wing.
Engine bay re-spray.

Ok thats about it for now lol Any other ideas that I would consider?
Hopefully getting a few of those done next week as I have the week off :D
Abnd what are peoples opinions on tinting windows? I don't want fully black... maybe a light smoke or nothign at all.
El x
-
I've decided to knock the idea of having tints on the head for the time being and get sorted the things that really need doing!
Went to Simpsons Auto Salvage on Saturday morning (very good by the by, always get what I go there for) and brought back a few little bits to make Gary look a lot better, little things but make a hell of a difference!
Original door guards, do need spraying the same colour as my car tho!
Chromey door handle inserts, am gona respray the original plastic inserts the same colour as the car so have a choice of two, also will be having something engraved into the metal ones.... ;)
New chrome front badge, didn't even have to make the effort to get it off as it was just lying on the bonnet of a car behind the one we were dismantling lol
(http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c49/Chantuz/Gary/GrillBadge.jpg)
Got big bumper side brackets to level out the bumpers and try to stop them sagging, and extra bolts too.
Rear bumper -
(http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c49/Chantuz/Gary/RearBumper.jpg)
Car needs a wash hehehe :P
Also got a painted boot handle to have a play with!!
-
your car looks stunning
keep up the good work
loving the lights
-
really nice mk2 good you got your bumpers sorted!
also like the chrome door handle inserts!!
-
lookin gud hun i need to get a list sorted i think lol
-
I know how ya feel, I'm always thinking about what next on my golfy!
For example!!!
My car will be visiting the bodyshop again soon! My friend ryan opened the door of his 200sx into my drivers door the night before GTI International on Sunday..lovely chip, anyhoo I noticed an imperfection int he paint work from when I first had my doors resprayed so I took it back to them.
SO:-
Both doors re sprayed.
Wing mirrors colour coded.
Small spots of rust in various places repaired.
Smooth boot - Wiper and jet removed.
All for £100 - £120, bargain! But why stop there ..???!!
Gonna have my grill spoiler, door guards and smooth boot handle sprayed up, won't be much, will prolly spray them for free anyways.
Sprinter vent - £25
To weld and spray - £30 to £50
Cut holes out for my fog lights and buy brackets and looms (anyone got any?)
Buy a boot solenoid! £10 - £15???
Also buying a new engine and tax in august! Planning on having it all done by Festival :D
Overall coming to a total of £515. Not bad I must say, if anyone got any money saving ideas it would be much appreciated!
-
Me and Gary visited the Golf club ;)(http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c49/Chantuz/Gary/KIF_2182.jpg)
-
Another little update!
Bought another 1.6 driver last week, as another donor car, tis in light blue on F reg, big bumpers with front splitter and rear diffuser, 15 inch alloys pretty scuffed, single gti back box, smoked rear lights, new discs, pads and shoes still in the boxes and a full tank of petrol! Got it for £60 8)
Also I took a couple pics of my golfy with a new mod :D The single de badged grill and grill spoiler that came off this blue golf!! yay! Still looks wierd to me though!

Nice mota  Love a bargain mk2 myself
-
looking very nice, can't decide which i prefer, the single or twin headlamps? both look cool!

(p.s you have PM on demon!)
-
Got it and replied ;)
I tried it without the spoiler but I hated it lol looked like it had a shocked expression on it's face !

Next mod will be central locking..YAY!!! Then into the bodyshop, yeah baby!
-
looks sweet! some nice pictures there too
-

I was just about to say how nice he was looking then I saw the crash pictures!
what a shame!

Thats a mk4 golf interior hun, and also have black door cards, parcel shelf and rear speaker covers to match now!
Don't worry hun, he be back to his former glory by this weekend!
-
nice, nice. was there much messing about with subframes for the front seats?
well lets hope so! how much is all this costing you for it to be repaired?
-
I think thats such a great mk2. Awesome wheels (you certainly contributed to me gettin them) great colour, and will be fab once its on those coilovers. Any changes to the front end after the corsa bashing or is 'he' staying the same?
-
nice sound system
-
Really nice car, what offset are those wheels?
-
I bought the seats off a friend of mie who had them in his mk2, so they already had mk2 sub frames on them ;) The lad who drove into me has accepted all blame and is paying for my golf to be fixed, costing about £350!

Thanx hun, really made my day, I dont get many compliments :( Glad I helped you decide to get the cups too! I've had people say the colour is dull and boring too.. However I like it, you get a lot more silver/grey cars out now and mines really unique! No changes to the front end really.. getting the ariel smoothed, wing mirrors and slam panel colour coded and getting my crystal smoked fog lights fitted!
nice sound system
:( When it works!
Really nice car, what offset are those wheels?

Ands that about it lol nothing much changed this year, not even got around to fitting my fog lights either  Oh yeh had the coilovers fitted, now sitting pretty at aprox 70mm lower
However I did find out something, I got a letter from my insurance company saying I had forgotten to put the engine number down on the modified car report for my new engine..
So went to get it and turns out my engine is an EZ engine... that means it is still a 1.6!!!
Went to a rolling road day and came out with the least powerful award lol wasn't too bad, 100bhp at the fly.. and thats when we thought it was a 1.8!

The pics dont really do it justice :( looks good in person tho!
-
Fair play and all that, just not for me i'm afraid!
Are the seat covers universal or were they made up specially? They look a very good fit if they are universal.
-
ive been wanting to do that to my door cards!! but i want all red or black, could you possibly write down a stage by stage guide? thanks :)
-
Mew they are not seat covers :P I have mk4 golf seats in my mk2, we simply took the covers off them, un picked the centres, cut the purple cordaroy to the right size and stitched them over the original centres and then back into the seat cover!
dubsport - all I did was strip the door cards down and litrally pull the cover off the door cards. Cut the material and used spray mount glue to stick the material onto the door cards, making it smooth took time lol and they arent perfect now anyways..
-
Kudos to you Chantuz, ya having a go, and a good go at that. It's all about having your own look, and not some off the shelf stuff.

WOW. Look at that date, 2008.. damn facebook and full time jobs stops people coming on to forums eh!
Thought I would come back since this was my favorite forum back in the day :) a lot has happened since!
Because I live by the sea the golf had taken a battering from the salty air and ended up needing some attention to the body, it received complete new sills, rear arches and the rear valance, along with the damaged battery tray and both front doors. It had a little bit of engine smoothing, nips and tucks and a complete re-spray. a set of shiney BBS RM splits with stainless dishes and bolts and a nice cleaned up 1.8 16v KR engine. Inside I got hold of some Recaro seats and had a fresh but retro re-trim including door cards, parcel shelf and steering wheel. So here he is now!

I need some help from you guys, my golf does have bike carbs on at the moment but after the other weekend I've just had enough so getting rid.
Im looking at some a twin 40s set up, does anyone know of the best place to buy a new full kit or perhaps know anyone selling one?
