Well Folks,
As I spend ages on here reading about what everyone else does to their motors, I thought I would share my experiences with you (plus I told Nick I would do this and I don't want to go back on my word )
Anyway, for those that don't know, I used to have a Mk3 8v that, although people slate them, it never let me down and was a good solid motor .
I put the Mk3 on ebay and offered it up with a silly high buy it now in the hope that someone would offer me a deal as I had said I was moving on to an older motor. Had lots of offers (a lot of sh!te mainly ) until this one really caught my eye . So along with some very good advice from Nick (horney) and veedubgti16v, I reckon I had enough to go on to make sure that I didn't end up with a complete lemon .
So, after many phone calls and a couple of meets the deal was done. I arrived there Tuesday afternoon in this.......
And came home in this............
Classic Green 2.0l 16v Corrado with 119,000 miles on the clock. Full stainless Magnex (which has seen better days but doesn't blow and is still in good enough order to last a while, but is on my "to-do" list. The only issue with the bodywork is a little bubbling on the rear arch which I'll get done in the new year
The first things I did were.......
Almost non-existant brakes
Wiper issue (blades not even touching the screen )
A ghetto fix on the throttle body where the return spring had snapped.
(sorry, no photo's of these things done)
Brakes:
Drained the brake fluid, water and mud out of the system and replaced with some new fluid only and I have brakes again (still think I'll replace the master cylinder at some point. But at least it stops
Wiper issue:
Replaced the wiper mechanism (ebay for £1 ) as it was worn and very loose. Now I can see when it rains
Throttle body:
Replaced the entire throttle body thanks to a guy on the Corrado forum. Now it ticks over OK
With those things done I was able to start putting my mark on it.
1. Smoked side repeaters
2. Full valet on the interior (previous owner was a smoker )
3. Clayed, 3 staged and tech waxed. (going to get some better wax for it ready for the winter).
4. Ride height was a little 4x4 for me  so off came the suspension (which I found that the shocks, springs and top mounts were all sh4gged ) and fitted a 40mm spring & shock kit with new bump stops & top mounts all round. What a difference
5. Bought some light tint spray and gave the rears a couple of coats to reduce the orange on the rear light clusters.
6. The wheels are not my thing so after a deal was done with RSCPK, I am the new owner of some 16" Brock B3's  2 of the tyres were bald ( ) so I replaced them with some 205/45/16, I then realised in my hurry to get the old wheels off that I had forgotten that the wheels came with 2 good 205/40/16's on so I now have different profiles front to back :embarassed: going to get them done ASAP.
These pics were taken this morning just to let you know how far it's coming on (I will get some better ones soon I promise).
Future plans are to get the wheels refurbed (all kerbed at the mo) in a cream colour. Replace the drivers seat as the bolster foam has collapsed (seat isn't torn though) and get the rear arch sorted along with the bonnet resprayed as it is badly stonechipped (hence the bra).
I await your comments and abuse

-
no abuse...get it tidied...although aint cream wheels as bad as white :lipsrsealed:
-
Nice looking car, looks like you been busy on it! keep it up
Dan
-
Looks better on those wheels.
-
Cheers for the comments guys
no abuse...get it tidied...although aint cream wheels as bad as white :lipsrsealed:
Not sure what you're gettin' at there buddy but I like the idea and it's my car
The wheels that were on when I bought it had to go.........they were letting the car down. Anyone want to buy 'em
Not sure what I'll be doing next, only had it a month and I seem to have spent all my spare time on it :embarassed:
-
Exactly, its your car, so do what you want. Just never been a fan of white wheels...or black for that matter...high polished or simple silvers always work best imo.
Car does look tons better without those other wheels they were  . I'd say a drop was in order next...tighten up an already good chassis
-
I've already dropped it 40mm, but the fronts only having the 40 profile on make it look a bit high again . 45's are the right size for the car and I'll be changing them soon so they will fit the wheel arches better
Not wanting to go too low as the car handles great now and I don't want to ruin the ride
Going to go for the cream on the wheels, not a "I've got Bentley rims on" cream but something more traditional
-
I've already dropped it 40mm,
Really? Maybe its the pics but it looks really high still. Look forward to cream n green just to prove me wrong! Get some more pics up
-
I'll get some better ones done and posted next time I'm out and about with the camera.
It still looks high because of the low profile front tyres
Hopefully I'll get a christmas bonus that'll cover the cost of a wheel refurb
-
I think it looks a good ride height for good ride/handling compromise.
As well as being lower than stock, are the springs stiffer? Where was the kit from/made by who/how much?
-
looking stunning mate!
glad its going well for ya!!
and surprsingly i like it being green, not normally a fan of green cars!!
white/cream wheels work on the right cars imo!
keep it up m8!
-

The springs aren't much stiffer DH, a little less body roll but still absorbs the bumps
It's a -40mm kit all round made by G-max bought off the bay from a guy breaking his Corrado. He said they had only been on his car 3 months and looking at the condition of the kit I beleive him. Cost less than £100 delivered. I just waited until the right kit came along didn't want to go down the coilover route as I think personally it would ruin the ride.

Cheers Robz, I wasn't sure of the green at first but the missus had a Dragon green polo a while back and it was a nice colour so with this being very similar I went for it  If the wheel colour doesn't work, I'll just re-do them
-
i think they will suit it mate, off the above pic anyway!!
ya gonna do any meets next year??
-
Will be doing some next year, going to make sure I have the car done before the summer this year
Going to get a few ignition components changed this weekend, had a little hiccup in it on Sunday () but no major drama.
Leads, plugs, dizzy cap & rotor arm to be changed and hunt around for a coil to go on it.
-
Looks well good mate!
Coils are biatch to find and are muchos $$ from VW. What's the issue? I had to replace the dizzy on mine as the hall sender had started to fail.
Nick
-
Not really a big issue with it Nick,
Just died on me when out in it the other day and wouldn't start again for about 30 seconds. When it did start again it ran fine and has been fine since  :undecided:
Conker suggested the fuel relay which I have a spare of in the shed that I'll replace. The ignition parts I'm changing are to just give me piece of mind that they are all done. The last service in the book was about 8000 miles ago.
Thanks for the comments, need to get some better pics to post to show the car off, but sadly haven't got the talent you posses with the camera :embarassed:
-
Forgot to mention earlier that I had made a little sub housing for the boot, just to improve the sounds a little. 2 minute job to take out if I need to use all the boot space.
You will notice the 6x9's in the parcel shelf  so while I was making the sub enclosure, I put some new infinity speakers in it and then covered the parcel shelf with some spare acoustic carpet to hide them
Today I received delivery of these items to put on. Just got to wait for the rotor arm and I'll get them on this weekend.
-
Decided to get a couple of pictures this morning at work so I had a bit more room to take them rather than on me drive.
And in this one you can see the suspension drop a bit better (and the fcuk up with the tyres :embarassed:)
I have yet to find an angle of this car that I don't like
-
new pics are good mate...Seeing it with this lighting can see why you wanted to go cream with the wheels. looks tidy enough with the drop as well. Still very usable i bet
-
Certainly is Mate,
Me and the missus have just been out and done the big shop in it and no rubbing issues at all
I think I have a buyer for the old wheels so I might be able to get the wheel refurb done sooner as well :smug:
-
(http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/pp270/andy-mk3/Picture335.jpg)
Drag racer styling FTW.
-

It's the only way to roll
-
Right,
Little update........
I did take some pics of this but for some reason the camera is playing up so they'll have to come later
Been to the garage today and had it up on the ramps for the following:
New front discs & pads
Replace the aged stainless exhaust with a full Milltek , found out that the old exhaust was Powerflow up to the back box which is Magnex. The powerflow part was goosed but the Magnex back box is still in good useable condition so that will be cleaned up and put up for sale
Fiddle about with the central locking on the boot
That's it for now, the new fog lights haven't arrived yet so that will be for another day
-
cool!!
look forward to the pics!
loud or just a rumble??
-
Actually it's quieter than the old exhaust which I'm pleased about Mate (does pop a little though on the overrun though )
F**k knows what's wrong with the camera , me and technology don't get on at all
Pity the fogs hadn't arrived while I had a nice dry garage to work in
Still, it's two more ticks on the list today
-
Well, I only managed to retrieve 2 pictures from the camera
First one explains the reason why the exhaust was knackered
And the second shows where it had started to go
Unfortunately, the pictures I took of the discs are not on the camera but they would have shown the 3mm lip around the edge ..........completely goosed
The tip of the Milltek stick out a little further than the Magnex did, but as the two exhausts wouldn't mate up then the milltek stays and the Magnex has been sold on
Andy
-
Right,
Got a nice Christmas bonus from work and I'm going to have the wheels refurbed after christmas in a cream colour  so I went on the bay and bought some scalpels and some cream colour 7yr outdoor vinyl
My 16v grill badge went from this:
to this:
I have to finish the trimming to get it looking a little neater and then move on to the rear badge when the weather warms a little
-
can't see the pics on me phone but sounds good!
have a good Xmas m8 :D
-
Cheers Mate,
You too
-
Right, the boxing day boredom has set in so I thought I would put one of my presents in the car
Took this knackered old thing out (sorry for the crap picture )
And put this in
It was nice to find that the person who put the previous stereo in only had a kitchen knife and a selection of hammers for the installation  Managed to sort it but was a hassle.
-
As I was still bored, I replaced this cracked fog.....
For this new one purchased from the Corrado forum
Then I put back on the newly re-coloured 16v grill badge
-
badge looks miles better
-
Cheers Buddy,
I've done the back one as well today (fookin' freezing) and I must say it looks a lot better, especially when the wheels have been done
-

Cheers Mate,
The wheels will be done in January. I spoke to a guy from premier wheels near to me and over the phone has quoted me £70 per wheel for the refurb and colour. I think any more than that and I'd have to consider some new wheels :embarassed:
HA!! I know what you mean about banging your head, I aint the tallest guy in the world but I do the same thing  and now that it's lower I sometimes end up rolling out of it :embarassed: .
Have you still got those white wheels with the polished lip on them ??? they would look well on the Raddo
good work andy!
looking good!
leeroy - you will see the light!
such nice cars!!!
Just got a few niggly bits still to do Mate, got to take the rear drivers side card out today and give the window module a good going over as it can be tempremental sometimes but that's why I bought it, It's a project for me and I'll get there in the end. I'm getting a new drivers seat and brake master cylinder delivered soon so yet more ticks on the list
-
yup nice big bruise on the side of my head mine 40mm lowered to
them wheels i sold some guy and then the following day was on ebay and made double what i sold them for
i do have a set off bbs rx2 well thats what i thought they were but they have quite a lip on then was thinking polishing them with white centres for the golf but dunno now lol

Car looks nice Buddy
Those wheels look very similar to the Brocks on mine :undecided: they really suit it
Looks like it doesn't need much work doing to it. Are you obsessed with the spoiler yet?
Just been out to mine this morning and it's that cold that it's drained the battery  so it's now on charge so I can get out and about
-
nice corrado's!

Cheers

-
how are your handbrakes? my corrado has been dragging its arse around in this weather till its warmed up
the heater fan stopped working yesterday as well
you want a g60 spoiler, it goes up at 45
-
Have you still got that 9a 16v motor or has it been sold?? could you not put that in for now??
Yeah, the battery has never been good on this but haven't got round to changing it yet :embarassed: Going to get a new one soon as

Handbrake hardly works anyway   needs adjusting badly but going to do that when the new rear disks are on. But it has been a bit of a problem but not as bad a sthe GF's Polo GTi .
Heater doesnt work on one of the settings but when I had the stereo out the other day I noticed one of the cables was not connected so that's another job
They go up at 45?? mine doesn't activate 'till 55mph :embarassed:
-
was thinking about the 9a as its coming outa the golf
my spoiler goes up at 45 to

 Bugger, just mine then at 55mph
Why not put the 9a in for now while you sort the original one
Just taken a quick picture of the rear 16v badge now it's done. just wsahed it again as the roads have so much salt on at the minute  and I'm going to go out and towel dry it before it hard freezes

Well Mate, other than the wheels (and putting the correct profile tyres on the front :embarassed:) I have to replace the drivers seat as the bolster foam has collapsed, replace the brake master cylinder so th brakes are a little sharper, new door handle on the passenger side as the current one has broken in the recent freeze , also got to get a new electric window module to fit and new parcel shelf supports to go in as mine are broken  . Fortunately, a guy from Manchester has all these parts and is bringing them over in the next few days    so there will be a few more pictures up soon  Priority at the moment is to get the car up to scratch before I go mad with anything else. Then I'll know which direction to go in
robz ....... trouble is i dunno wether to keep it or my golf lol
Keep them both Mate
-
i would keep em both but my drive looks like this at the mo
(http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p319/leeroy8v/P091228_135542.jpg)
bit full
-
Wish mine looked like that :embarassed:
Forgot to mention earlier that I also have a badgeless grill ready to go on when the mood suits me and I replaced the Sony amp in the boot for an Alpine amp.
-
think the bagde less grills do look good on the raddo
-
Me too,
Bought it off a chap on the Corrado forum and he said it was painted Classic Green but when it arrived it looks darker like Dragon Green :undecided:.
Not sure whether to paint it satin black or colour code it as it's already smoothed ready for paint. Going to buy some headlight protectors and an uprated headlight loom off there as well as soon as I can.
-
do the headlight looms make much dofference on the corrado as the lights are a lot brighter than golf lol
-
Apparently they do but not seen any as a comparison so I can't really confirm that
Going to find out if I need a 2 or 3 relay loom and get one ordered ASAP cos I'm fed up of getting blinded by oncoming traffic
Yours may have already had one put in
-
might be worth a look tbh i bought it yesterday and only had a quick looky under bonnet the more i drive it tho the more im liking it also sounds really nice
i think it leaning out at top end thats why its pinking just need to find some were they can set it up
-
I know what you mean Mate,
When I first got in mine, the driving position felt really strange, especially with the low roof  but after a very short time it felt really good.
-
the driving position is awesome. i like the way your arm rests on the handbrake when changing gear, makes it feel like a sportscar
im glad i have the early interior tbh, its more mk2 whereas the late interior is more mk3  plus you dont get the hump on the back seats with the late interior. i can tell the 5th person to f**k off and walk lol
-

I think the earlier interior rear bench looks a lot better than mine :embarassed:. I know what you mean about the "sportscar" feel
I also found that you have to keep an eye on the speedo as the speed creeps up without you noticing
-
Today I received this..........
along with some other much needed parts  (because the snow was so bad, the guy had to leave his motor on the main road and walk up with it on his head )
Got to get it cleaned up and put it in as soon as I can find the car under the snow again
-
oh wish we had snow
gettng there m8
-
Well, today is a good day.
After doing a pre MOT check it was found that the lambda sensor was buggered  so a new one was sourced and put in. Then there was a problem  it seems as though the same guy who fitted the previous head unit had also fitted a lambda sensor
Big big thanks to rubjonny for his help with the wiring diagrams and all is well again. Also turned out that the car was running really rich when idling so some lumpiness has gone. This now means that the fueling is sorted with the Corrado and will be (hopefully) a little easier on the fuel
Now it has another 13 months MOT on it and I suppose I'll have to tax it as well now
Going to pop into work in the morning to get the car inside and sort the broken passenger door handle and the faulty drivers window
-
good news m8 i knew i forgot i got to sort something out passenger door handle out to the mrs broke it the other day there a guy on the corrado forum selling them 15 quid a side for the repair kit goin to order one tom
would u know if my raddo has a lamba/cat on it thought it was to old
-
IIRC Mate,
The cat/lambda sensor were only introduced in 1992 so I would say you're in the clear with this
The guy I bought the passenger handle off was from the Corrado forum and he has the early handle as well because he brought both types with him when he delivered the seat etc. Goes by the name of raddo-tom.
Can't remember how much it was though now :undecided:
-
This Morning I have fitted this........
So that the headlights do this.....
I also replaced the broken passenger door handle but pointless taking pics of that really.
The drivers side electric window still has me beaten.........but not for long
-
wow! a slight upgrade from the standard fitment candle power
-
Yeah, I know.
Can't wait for tonight to give them a go. I forgot to do a before shot to show the comparison :embarassed:
Got the loom off the Corrado forum, not the cheapest of things but I think it'll be worth it in the long run
I also popped a new battery on as well so the charger and extension lead can be put away again for the time being
-
looking good fella let us know how the lights are deffo look brighter tho ifi keep the raddo i will deffo be doin this
-
looking good buddy!
getting on top of all the various things now aren't ya!
what else ya got plannned for it??

Still got to get the drivers electric window sorted Robz,
Get me arse into gear and get the replacement drivers seat cleaned and put in.
Get me wheels refurbed in the cream colour to match the badges I've done and that's about it for this year as there will be lots of things crop up during the summer no doubt
I have some headlight protectors ordered from a guy on the Corrado forum cos the headlights are so expensive to replace that I'd rather spent £30 on them than £100 on a new headlight.
Oh, and paint up the badgeless grill and put that on when the mood suits me :smug:
I've just been into Buxton to drop some people off and for anyone who has experience of the crap Corrado headlight power........get an uprated headlight loom   it's like fecking daylight now!!!
Next time I'm out at night I'll take some pics to show.......the difference is incredible, 1000% better
-
yeah, they are awful!!
its like closing your eyes every time a car goes past you aint it!
saying that the golf aint that much better..
is it a big job doing the uprated loom???
-
those headlight protectors sound interesting, can you get a pic up when you get them?
-
The loom cost me £50 posted Mate
But it came with instructions and I got it fitted in around 15mins  and by the way it was tonight, worth every penny
The car is running so much better now the lambda sensor has been done as well, just seems more responsive
-

Will do Mate,
Not sure if he's doing them from the forum any more but he does sell them from time to time on ebay . Apparently, you can't tell they are on when fitted but cannot use them if you have a headlight brow on.
He does them in clear, tinted and Yellow.
-
sounds good, the price of new headlights is stupid!
-
Yeah, bl00dy frightening
I'll get some pics up when they're here and on
I'll also have to show you the lights with the new loom in, it really is incredible
-
lol,
bit steep but for the time and effort certainly sounds worth it!
the headlight covers are defo worth it... so expensive if ya smash em!!
-
I'll also have to show you the lights with the new loom in, it really is incredible
So you didn't think 'I think I'll get some illegal HID units' to upgrade your headlights, you bought an upgrade loom and stayed completely legal?
You must be not retarded or something......
-

DH approved
I was tempted to....... but thought better of it.

So that the headlights do this.....
For mine, I also invested in a set of Phillips Xtreme bulbs and it made as much difference again. Not cheap at £20 a set, but they are still 55w and completely legal, they just burn brighter (probably at the expense of life expectancy).
Totally recommended.
-
Cheers for the recommendation Conker, I take it you have the uprated loom as well??
-
Cheers for the recommendation Conker, I take it you have the uprated loom as well??
Yep.
Alhough its been done some time ago, so the wiring/relays are getting a but crusty. Its nearly time for a refresh.
How are your wipers? Have you sorted the other "Corrado Chestnut" out yet?
-
Yeah,
Sorted the wipers out more or less straight away, bought a complete new mechanism and they were still not contacting with the windscreen properly so I stripped the mechanism and shimmed it up to remove any play and added some aero wipers and *touches some wood* they work fine now
Just this drivers window now  ran the meter on the connections an I have power to the motor when I press the switch so everything is working now except for the motor so I'll have to source one
-
Just got back from a morning in Chesterfield and thought I'd just take a couple of shots after I'd washed the salt and crud off

As you can see, not much has happened on the cosmetic front. However a lot of time and money is going into getting this thing in top working condition (with regular polishing thrown in for good measure )
Getting me arse in gear and tackling the replacement drivers seat this coming Friday. Cleaned, dried and put in .
Hopefully the car will look loads better when the wheels have had their refurb as well
-
Oh, and a shot from the other night showing the uprated headlight loom at work
Crap, blurry picture but you get the idea.
-
looking good there m8!
are ya gonna be lowering it, cant remember lol
certainly got a nice n there!
-
It's aleady down 40mm Mate
Gonna scuff these tyres off that I have on the front that are the wrong profile until refurb time (should be booking in this week if the price is right). Problem is I have found some other wheels on the bay that have caught my eye so I'll wait 'till they end before I go for the refurb on these
Not going to go lower with this with the roads being so bad around here
EDIT: also just got a window motor coming from Shaung60 off the Corrado forum so should be a busy weekend with the seat and all
PS. Anyone removed a seat out of a Corrado, never done one mesen so some pointers would be nice :embarassed:
-
that loom looks like it works well m8 im impressed
as for the seat surley there the same as a mk2 golf 10mm bolt and allen key at front undo that lift handle slide out backwards mayby lol
got a question for u have u done the door handle yet m8 if so how do u get them off sopose got to take door card of unlike the golf lol

Hi Mate, yeah, the loom is much better
Cheers for the heads up on the seat  I'll give that a go when the seat is dry. The door handle was OK. Take the door card off, undo the screw above the door catch, disconnect the block connector inside the door near the window motor and then pull the handle out of the door . Might need a bit of persueding out as the seal sticks to the door a little. Oh, and it comes out lock end first
My rims are 16's Mate.
looking tidy mate! but you cant park straight on your drive
you going to ultimate dubs mate?
Cheeky
Thinking about this one mate for sure, probably the Sunday
-
looking good tho mate!
yeah, i'm heading up the sunday for sure. . been itching to get to a show since last september!
see what goodies and be found too! (wheels)
got many other plans or is it still just keeping on top of things that need doing?
-
Gonna get these wheels refurbed Mate first (unless those others don't go much higher that I'm watching on the bay )
After that Mate it will be a case of enjoying the thing throughout the summer with minimal tinkering :lipsrsealed:
Goodies found there are going to cause further modifications but that is a risk I'm willing to take
What size wheels are you looking at??
-
Well, after some valuable advice from Guy & Dubplate Dan regarding cleaning the replacement drivers seat I ended up searching round places like HSS and the like to hire a wet & dry vac and I was looking at around £30 for a days hire
So I decided to look up local valeters to see what sort of price I was looking at for a loose seat to be cleaned. Got a price that was a lot less than the hire cost of the vac and my drivers seat went from this ................
To this .............
Amazing what a tenner can get you these days
The seat will reside by the radiator tonight/tomorrow morning until dry and then it will be fitting time
-
not bad at all m8 looks sweet cnat beat that for a tenner and bolster looks like its in good nick to
-
Yeah, the bolster is tons better than the current one Mate. This one also has the tilt lever and surround on it as well
I'll take some pics of the old seat in tomorrow before I take it out so you can see the difference.
The price was good as well, only took the guy 15mins and he also got a brew out of it as well . just goes to show that it sometimes isn't worth trying yourself, get one of the guys on here (if they live close enough to you :embarassed:) to give you a price. You could be pleasantly surprised . By this guy doing it I have saved the price of the vac hire, brush and solution
Window motor hasn't turned up today so I guess that will arrive on Monday but to be honest, I'm not looking forward to doing it  looks a bit fiddly.
-
window motor cant be that hard can it ? lol typical i done my passenger side handle wednesday night all good i thought wasnt to bad to do then the head gasket goes  mayby should had left it alone
well ul be pleased to know il prob fix engine but still break the raddo but have my eye on a vr6 the purpley colour one pretty cheap to but for now i will tax the twin 40s lol
-
That's bad news Mate  Shame to lose another Corrado.
Those Blackberry corrado's are a really nice colour  and the VR6 noise  . Would have gone for one mesen if I wasn't such a tight arse and refuse to give Mr. Brown all me hard earned in fuel tax
At least you're keeping one of those nice motors you have Mate, I really like that black motor of yours
-
well black one still up for sale so not keeping that
the red raddo is nice but pics do do it justice lol
as for the vr6 i love the noise but will mainly be used as a weekend car i need a van to get dogs in ect lol
urs is getting there nicly m8 fingers crossed ul get there soon lol its a never ending battle the older cars
-
It is Mate thanks, but that, to me is the whole point of having one
Every week, probably nothing to anyone else, I find something that I need to do to it. Sometimes it pi$$es me off but I leave it for a while, go back a while later and sort it. At that point all is well again
Get yersen the VR6 and stick a LPG conversion in it and happy days
Still not sorted the feckin' wheel refurb   :embarassed:
-
Well, this morning has seen the new drivers seat in it
I took this one out.........
And put this one in........
Anyone want a free Corrado drivers seat, good condition apart from needing new foam in it
OK, I'll wait for the skip man next week :embarassed:
-
looking better dude
bet it more comfortable now
-
Like you're sat in a different motor Mate
As usual, the Corrado gremlins struck again .....it seems that every time I sort summat, another thing rears it's ugly head .
This time it was a fuse holder in the alarm system wiring that had decided to break internally and fugged up the central locking. Just a 5 minute fix but about an hour finding the fecker
-
Anyone want a free Corrado drivers seat, good condition apart from needing new foam in it
In all seriousness I'd be confident someone will buy that.
Corrado seats are the lowest of the low, so it may be someone will re-trim it and give it a whole 'nother life.

Cheers for the heads up on that DH
I'll do some investigating, there is nothing wrong with the structure at all, just needs some new foam in it. Maybe someone off the C forum will take it.
-
Quick update,
I have got mesen into gear and have booked the car to go in on Monday afternoon and then pick it up Thursday night with a full set of refurbed wheels in a cream colour to match the badges done
On the negative side, the new front tyres will have to now wait until next month :embarassed:. Ah well, another months drag racing stylee won't hurt . Also had the door card off today and looked at replacing the window motor mechanism................I've booked it into my brothers garage for a cash job :embarassed:
Pics will follow once the car is back and cleaned
-
thursday is taking a long time to come round, lol :D
looking good fella!
-
Tell me about it
I pick it up Thursday evening after work so by my reckoning, Thursday will be the longest day at work this year so far
Also got the headlight protectors at long last yesterday, one clear set for day to day use and a tinted set for the summer
Will get some pics together this weekend of all the bits together
-
lol,
i know the feeling on that one,
remember when i put my mini in for new suspension and wheel spacers, the longest 3 days of my life :D
look foward to seeing the pics!
-
Well, just had a call from the wheel refurb place................
The car is ready now for collection, all done   mega fast turn around  the wheels were a right state when I dropped it off on Monday night .
Downside is I can't get back there until Thursday night so the time slow down has already begun
-
ahh i no what you mean, i thought i was going to get my car back last night, but turns out hadnt even collected it when i talked to him yesterday! so hopefully today. oh and yes, today is going REALLY slow!
-
Just a taster before I can get some better pictures this weekend
Going to sort the centres mesen (green around the outer and either tint the Brock logo or replace with VW centres)
I also couldn't resist the dust caps
-
sweet m8!!
looking good!!!
they look 2 have had a good job done on them :D
-
Funny you should say that mate.
After I posted the pic I noticed that one of the spokes wasn't totally covered with the cream so as I looked around them there are thin patches of coating on them so they are back in on Monday to be completely re-done
At least they have reacted quickly to the problem and are sorting it straight away...........the joys of a 12 month warranty on the refurb
-
look awesome!!! :afro:
and just read your reply, ahh that sucks. at least they going to get sorted.
-
Yeah, shame about the finish Mate but the colour is spot on  really goes well against the Green.
They were really apologetic but it's going to be sorted and that's the main thing.
-
bugger m8,
shame really, like ya say, at least they are sorting it,
another day without it then... ?
thats the bit that sucks really, lol
-
Yeah, it is Mate.
At least I'll keep the car with me......................on axle stands..............................at work...............................all day
Well chuffed with the look now though
-
lol,
i used to get told off for parking my car where i could see it at work -
do dome work and stop perving at your car and planning things, lol
they gonna do it in a day?
-
They say it will be done :undecided:
Better be, can't leave me car inside the factory all night
-
The cream wheels look crazy good  What colour is your interior? Cream leather looks awesome on green rados but with the cream wheels too it would look insane
-
Cheers Mate,
Unfortunately the interior is just grey cloth . There was a full cream leather Corrado interior on the bay with a starting bid of £780
I think the grey cloth will have to stay for a bit
Another quick pic
-
£780? You could probably get the cloth interior retrimmed in cream leather for less.
-
My thoughts exactly Mate
-
looks very   m8 white/cream are th eway of the future lmao
i know some 1 that has a cream rocco interior was only after about £300 i think got vw embossed in head rest and corrado in centre rest on back seat will find out for ya if ur intrested m8
-
Cheers mate,
Thanks for the offer on the rocco interior but I've kinda blown the budget for the next couple of months
-
loooks good that m8...
the gf just said she saw it the other day and looks realy nice on the skin!!
-
Cheers Robz  good job it hasn't been seen today   it was white from the windows down
Decided that I was going to get the front tyres changed because they were starting to get on my nerves .Took it up to Buxton, got the tyres changed and the car feels better already  . Don't know why but it just seems to steer better. Felt really good having something go right after the disaster with the refurb
The wheels are going back for a complete rework on Monday so I will sort proper pictures out possibly next weekend
-
TBH I thought the cream wheels would look sh!t but they actually look really good. A doff my cap to you sir.
nick
-
Cheers Nick......to be honest, when I went to pick the car up when the wheels were done I was sh!tting mesen  but I think it really goes well with the Green
I decided this afternoon that I was going to sort the centres out as they were still the original grey
So after a bit of Green paint and some VW resin covered centre stickers. Better than before . Going to get some new Wheel studs for it and paint the fake studs.
And this is how it is currently standing on the drive. The better pics will come next weekend. Possibly popping over to Dubfreeze so a good place for some pics
Thinking of possibly painting the VW badges to match the other cream bits :undecided:
Comments welcome .
-
paint the badges :afro: looks really good mate, top stuff!
-
Seriously love those wheels
I had cream badges on my old green Vento and was going to do the steelies cream before I sold the whole lot on. No pictures I'm afraid but it did look sweet with the dragon green paint
On a slightly related note there's a united grey mk5 GTI over here with cream brake calipers, cream leather interior and cream GTI lipstick but he painted his badges black and it works really well. Black badges made the few cream bits stand out a lot more. Could be worth a shot!
-
Hmmmmmm..................black badges, never thought of that
I think I need to get hold of some old badges as these on it are in near perfect condition and I don't want to ruin them
Cheers for the comments, I'm definitely going to lose the chrome badges and replace with colour
-
Wheels look spot on :afro:
-
Cheers Mate
Well, the wheels were taken this morning at 7.20 and returned to me and fitted back on the car by 4.30pm
Much better this time   you can see how deep the finish looks  (you have to ask the question as why it wasn't done like this the first time ) .
Ordered a replacement rear badge and grill badge and the decision is to be Cream coloured and future plans will be Cream leather interior (I'll keep you posted about the offered one Leeroy )
-
Well, had a good session on the car today. First off I painted all the bolt heads on the newly refurbed wheels, only took 20mins per wheel
Then the Lamin-X film arrived  As I've bought headlight protectors I thought I'd get something for the fogs and indicators
The front looked like this to begin with......................
And now it looks like this.................
The fogs are very much now "Chuffesque"
I have two sets of protectors for the headlights, clear for normal use and these light smoked ones for days as nice as today
So thats where I'm up to so far..........off to Dubfreeze tomorrow so I guess the wallet will take a battering
-
£780? You could probably get the cloth interior retrimmed in cream leather for less.
no chance, not for a decent job anyhow
wheels looking good man, get the thing dropped tho and it would really set it off i think
-
Funny you should say that Mate.
Just been looking at the pictures taken today and although it's down 40mm it looks nose high
Pennies are now to be saved and then it'll be coilover time
-
Bit of a boring update.........
As I mentioned before, replacement badges were purchased for colouring. So off I went yesterday to find some cream paint to match the vinyl and wheel colour. This took me to Halfords , which to my surprise, were very helpful and got me a near as damn it match for the cream.
So after some priming, painting, laquering and then going round with the artist brushes. The badge now has gone from a scruffy old badge to the one on the right.
And this shows the colour match that Halfords managed
Not started the rear badge yet but by the end of next week it should be done and on
-
Hmmmmm....................just been offered some FK coilovers.
Anyone got these or know what they're like??
-
FK what?
-
Not sure exactly which type yet. Just wondering in general how they were regarded.....ride quality, build etc.
-
I've only heard good things about FKs. I know people with the basic FK kit Like anything the ride is harsh when it's wound down to the last, but the other 99% of the time they are great
-
Cheers for that Jimp . I've mailed the guy to let me know which type they are and hopefully some pictures of them.
I suppose as long as they're in good nick and not too old I guess the next thing to do to the C will be get these on to lower the front a bit more
-
By the way man, you've inspired me to try painting my wheels cream  Cream estorils on a red vento, gonna look a bit mad but I think it will be sweet
-
Nice one
Go for it mate, I think it'll look good against the dark red of the vento
-
Looks good :afro:
-
i like m8,
starting to look the bollox now :D
-
Cheers Wayne & Robz
Got back from work in good time tonight and I've got the rear badge painted so on it went.
Off came this (sorry for the blurry pic )
And popped this on
So the rear of the car now looks like this
And a pic of the grill back in place (not a good one as the missus has wedged me in against the fence with her car )
Next on the cards in the next two weeks or so........FK coilies
-
Much nicer  Looks awesome
-
 very different :afro:
-
Cheers for the comments
Good thing about this is if I decide to change the wheels I can just swap the badges back over, peel the vinyl off the 16v badges and the jobs a good 'un.
Anyone got a spare KR inlet cam?? Thinking about adding a few ponies when I've done with the suspension
-
Looking sweet mate, suits it completely
good job pal
-
I likes this. Never been a huge fan of Corrados but something about this draws me to them...maybe it's the colour....
-
Your learning shady lol
Can't wait to see this in the flesh :)
-
Cheers for the comments
Boring update, took it to work this morning to apply some wheel sealant and as usual the heavens opened
still, got some quick pics of the car showing the grill bage a little better and my brother's (Sam-Mk3) motor sneaking in on a shot.

Next will be the FK coilies and perhaps some wheel spacers
-
Sweet that mate, I like the rear lights, have you tinted them?
-
I did Mate, three coats of the tinting spray just to reduce the orange of the lights
-
Lol, done the same as me then :)
I like the look of them, suits the rear loads,
-
Cheers :afro:
Toying with the idea of doing the lower half as well :undecided:
-
Keep the lower half red, like mine :)
-
looking good
really like the choice of cream
-
Cheers Rhyso,
It was a bit of a risk to be honest, really wasn't sure it would work but quite pleased with how it turned out............................phew
Shady, probs will leave them how they are for the mo. Don't want to keep disturbing the seals on them.
Besides, there's lots of shows coming up and that's just going to fill me noggin' with loads of daft ideas for things to do
-
Looking very nice mate! Just the little things are
setting it off great!
Looks sweet!
-
Cheers Drew
Good thing about the badges etc. is that they cost next to nothing to do so at least if it doesn't suit.............off it comes
Just the wheels that were the big risk
Had a little road trip out today to York and I think my front nearside wheel bearing is on it's way out . If it's not one thing, it's another.
-
If it's not one thing, it's another.
Thats how we roll in the corrado world
-
Amen to that Chris,
I'll just keep adding onto the bottom of the list
-
Amen to that Chris,

Too true^^ Like the car mate, brave move with the cream but car pulles it off great
-
Cheers chaps  really glad the colours worked together.
Going to wait a couple of weeks now and then get these Coilies and drop the lot down a little.
I'm not sure what to do with the badgeless grill now :undecided: It is painted green, just the wrong shade. I bought it for when the mood suited.
Do I....
a. colour match it to the car.
b. Paint it black
c. Paint it cream
d. sell it
Decisions, decisions........
-
Something is saying take a risk with doing it cream lol
-
color match it. will make the wheels stand out more and give a much cleaner look rather than a cream grill.
-
Just the thought of doing it cream automatically rings alarm bells, but im more than suprised at how good your motor looks now !!! excellent colour choice, the subtle mods all around have set it off!! ...
-
Cheers for the comments,
I don't think I'm brave enough to do the grill cream
Gonna go for a colour match on the green me thinks and see what it looks like
-
Cheers for the comments,
I don't think I'm brave enough to do the grill cream
Gonna go for a colour match on the green me thinks and see what it looks like
:afro: cant wait to see the pics
-
Lol
I suppose it could b a step too far .... Don't wanna make it look like a patch work quilt :D
just thought it might accent the widenedss of the front but eitherway I'm sure it'll look good :)
-
I know what you mean Robz but the more I thought about it, the less I dared to do it
-
Lol
I thought you were brave
maybe a Photoshop request for safety lol
-
Right Chaps
Got some paint matched as close as I could. Inside the boot say's LC9V (Classic Green) but this is nowhere near the same colour as the swatch samples .......nevermind, the inside of the car matches the outside so I'm not too bothered
Not the best finish, just done with rattle cans and I'll finish the shine once the laquer has had a couple more weeks to harden.

So what do you reckon?? I'm on the fence with this at the minute as I think I prefer the badged grill :undecided:
-
Looks good but the cream badge grill might work a bit better. It's a tough one alright :undecided: On the plus side both options look sweet :afro:
-
Yeah, I think the badged grill does look the better of the two. I suppose I can swap them around as the mood takes me. At least it's done now so another tick on the list
-
I've never understood people who change their grills to debadged ones...Why would you want to do that? Aren't your proud that you're driving a VW? Keep the badge, obviously :)
-
looking good either way bud
just not sure on the wheel colour now tho.. i was on the fence with it and now im leaning towards not feeling it... but car is looking great all the same, keep going man
-
If I had thought ahead and realised just how much hassle the wheels were to clean and to keep that way, I may have chosen a different route
Unfortunately, my photography skills are so limited that you don't actually see the proper wheel colour in the pics. Don't know why but they look darker in the flesh :undecided:
The badgeless will only be on when I'm in the mood, you know when you have a car and you see it every day, sometimes you can get a little bored of it so this way I can change it looks a little . Maybe the badged grill should be painted green :undecided: would maybe work with the badge.
Waiting for the call about collecting the coilovers now and then space the wheels out, should make it look a bit different.
-
I agree with Kells. The badged grill works much better with the wheels, helps break it up. Thing is the debadged also looks really cool, but not with the colour of the wheels.
-
Badgeless grill ftw :afro:
-
I'm siding with the cream badging mate,
I agree, never quite get the de badging thing plus it fits in with your car I think,
but can see it as a winter change looks wise :)
-
Yep, I'm not feeling the badgeless enough at the moment so it'll be badged again this morning.
At least I've tried it
-
We like lol
-
Right, got tired of waiting for my brother to "fit me in" at his garage to do me the drivers window motor and decided to do it mesen.
Took a while but it's done now and it's soooooooo nice to open and close it again   Wasn't too bad to do actually, got it in my head that it was going to be a complete mare for some reason
By doing that I have been able to put me new wind deflectors in and I'm off to New Mills in the morning to pick up some nice underbonnet bling
-
What ya getting in new mills mate?
Sourcing parts from somewhere I don't know about, lol
-
Just some bits off a guy on the Corrado forum Mate
I'll sort some pics out when I've got them  I'll just keep you waiting for now
-
Wasn't sam was it?
From the bike shop?
His rado is nice!
Your an evil man lol
-
Ha! it is mate.
it's bloody lovely that motor of his. Meeting him at the shop to pick them up.
not putting them on just yet though, got some more bits to get. hopefully he'll have a few other bits for me to get off him.
-
Lol
your being secretive mate, cards close to chest or what lol
-
looking good m8 i like the bagdeless grills on the raddos but every one to there own
ur getting there m8 soon ull just be able to drive it lol
-
Ha! too right Mate
Can't show anything yet Robz, got to get it all first then show the before and after shots
Got some bits off Sam this morning and it's given me the underbonnet clean up bug
Booking the local valeter for an underbonnet valet, then I can add these parts I've got this morning
Off to ebay now to give my wallet a battering.......autosol, pipercross filter, gaskets, any other bling I can find for it and have a look around for a kr inlet cam
-
Lol, don't worry, barclays are paying, that's my moto most of the time!
Sounds like your onto something though!
Can't wait for pics
-
Nothing much to report, just popped this in today
(http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/pp270/andy-mk3/Rado%20pics/radobadgeless005.jpg)
While the airbox was open I did notice a lot of crap in there that will need removing when the easter holiday is here
Also noticed that me decking needs another coat :embarassed:
-
I also started on the engine bay yesterday after the filter had gone in.
It was looking a bit "brown" under there.........this is how it started.
I had to replace the rocker gasket so everything came off. While it was in bits I de-greased the rocker cover and gave it a couple of coats of exhaust paint I had left over from me biking days and I thought I had best put the polished 50mm inlet I bought on  this also meant I had to paint the lower inlet.
I also got a polished rocker cover to go on but I decided that a black cover would be the sensible option
I have the valeting guy coming over to work on the 23rd of April to give the whole engine bay a good de-grease and steam clean, then I can carry on getting some shiny parts fitted.
-
looking sweet that mate!!
love thw way youve got the vw emblem black, really looks clean and smart!
good work!
-
Feel any different going to the larger bore inlet manifold?
-
Unfortunately I can't take the credit for that Mate  it was all Sam's work.
It just makes the rest of the bay look sh!t now
I've put the polished rocker cover on ebay to get some funds back for more bling
Not actually been out in it yet Chris, the missus is blocking me in on the drive .
I'm out in it this morning so I'll report back if there is any difference. I'm not sure whether it'll be the inlet or the Pipercross filter though :undecided:
-
Very shiny
-
lol, thats why sams is mint i suppose,
enjoy test driving it lol
-
Yep, it's bl00dy embarrassing parking next to his, that's for sure Robz :embarassed:
Well, been up to Buxton this morning in it and yes, there is an improvement. Seems to pull a little stronger, especially in 3rd & 4th but that could just be the pipercross :undecided:. Also could be the fact that the last thing I drove was the works Passat estate :undecided:
It's also a lot better being able to raise and lower the drivers window again  I also have added these wind deflectors recently but hadn't taken any pics of them.
I don't know whether I have the drivers seat in a funny position or what but I used to get a lot of wind noise around me ears but these have removed that little annoyance
-
Door rubbers mate, mine did the same!!
Sure I got some cheap and it improved a bit!
I found a fuel pump that worked if ya want it? Not sure if it will fit yours etc though
mine was h reg 1.8 if it's good for yours?
-
It might be Mate.
Ta for the offer, I'll have a search and see if they are the same and let you know
-
Looks nice, very clean!
-
Cheers Mate,
With the bank holiday weekend upon us I will have the wheels off, calipers cleaned and then they will be sporting some green paint
I won't be starting anything today cos it's fecking raining again
-
Nice idea!
Can ya see much caliper behind the wheel?
-
Enough of it to see that they're manky Mate
They're a lot easier to keep clean when they're painted. I did the calipers on the Golf and they looked so much better.
Also need to find some brake pads that don't give off as much dust, every time I go out in it I have to scrub the flippin' wheels after
Might get some green stuff pads and see what they're like :undecided:
-
Well, the unpredictable bank holiday weather has come good today and given me a lot of sunshine
First thing........calipers painted.
Then the car had a good clean
Now I'm going to start on the issue of high beam not working and the strange buzzing under the bonnet
-
Wow
stunning that now mate!
Ya ought to be proud of yourself with the results!!
-
Cheers Mate,
I am pretty chuffed with it. Just got to drop it a little on the front (the FK coilies purchase fell through ) and get the rear arches rolled as there is a little bit of rubbing going on. Engine bay is getting de-greased and steam cleaned on the 23rd of this month and then I will continue with the weekly troubles that you get when you own a Corrado
I was quite annoyed when about 20mins after the clean a bird managed to splatter the bonnet with a massive sh!te  . Out came the bucket again.
-
I put a request in the Virtual modifications for a possible roof colour change.
I have a contact for doing something like this in vinyl for me but not sure :undecided:
-
Lol
always the way ain't it
ya gonna roll em yourself or have em flared professionally?
Not sure about the colour but I see where your coming from? Black maybe??
-
Nah, going to get them rolled by someone who knows what theyre doing :embarassed:
The rof colour is just a thought at the moment. The sunroof panel is a different shade of Green to the rest of the roof and it's a little annoying . I've heard that the glass roof out of the oldre Passats will fit so I might go down that route instead :undecided:
-
Not feeling the cream roof to be honest, seems like a step too far. As it is the cream really stands out against the green. Too much more cream and it wont have the same impact.
-
Yep, I know what you mean Jimp........just a bit of a daydream really.
I'll just leave it as is for the moment and just get the essentials done
-
Boring update time again.
Having mis-diagnosed a noisy wheel bearing, further investigation into the noise/wheel shake showed that the bushes in the off-side wishbone are completely FUBAR'd  I have bought a complete new wishbone with ball joint which will go on this weekend.
-
Easy enough to do at least mate lol
hope it goes ok!!
-
Well, easyish Robz.
I have been for the last few nights soaking all the bolts in WD to try and make the job go a little smoother.
Then today got the car in the air. First job was to slacken everything to make sure it would all come apart. First up was the anti roll bar bush........snnnnnnnnnnnap!!
Hmmmm,,,,,,,not a good start but what I have come to expect from a Corrado  My brother ordered me another one and I popped along to get them once the motor factors had dropped them off at the garage.
After a lot of WD, breaker bars and the loss of the skin from 3 knuckles it was free. The bushes were in a bit of a state
(http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/pp270/andy-mk3/Rado%20pics/Photo0057.jpg)
Then this was taken out of it's package
and all the original bolts that were left were cleaned up, soaked in copper grease and it was all put back in place
Sorry for the picture quality....they were taken with me phone.
-
Lol
know how the snapping bolt feels :)
looks all shiny new now!!
Feel any better to drive?
-
It does mate but it hasn't stopped the noise
I am thinking about buying the wishbone for the other side now but I'm going to have to wait for my knuckles to heal before I can do the other one
-
Bloody hurts doesn't it!
My elbows and back if me head are still nipping from doing my zorst, cars hey, love and toil :D
-
It did make me say some words I've never really heard before
When the bush snapped, I reckon that my fist, containing the ratchet must have hit the underside of the car at approximately 314mph
It is a good feeling though when you take some rusty, seized, knackered part off and replace it with new and shiney bits
-
It is a good feeling!
Well we were on a gravel surface, so it was like havin permanent pins and needle in the back of head for 3 hours :D
-
Well, had a chap around today to clean the engine bay.
From this.......
To this........
Only cost a tenner to get done, given me a good starting point to sort some shiny parts.
Ordered the nearside wishbone today ready to fit next Friday.
Got to get mesen a tent bought now cos I'll be spending the weekend on the Bodelwyddon (spelling :embarassed:) castle showground at the all types show
-
Much better  How did he do it? Steam clean or special products and a bit of hard work? I've been struggling with the bay in my Vento and can't seem to shift some of the stuff even with de-greaser and bits. Bit afraid to get out a wire brush in case it just scratches the f**k out of the bay's paint.
-
He used a product called TFR (traffic film remover) Mate, sprayed that around the bay, agitated it with a brush in the stubborn areas and then steam cleaned it out .
For the price he charged, I couldn't have bought the products let alone hired the steam cleaner
-
Looks smart that, and at bargain price too!!
-
Cheers Robz,
Hopefully I'm going to stop spending on it soon and start enjoying it
-
lol!
im having a bit of a break with mine, will do a few bits but nothing big!!
got mini moto racing thing on at the min lol :D
summer months mate, sunroof open happyness!!
-
Love this car and the work you've done to it
For the next time you clean the bay, if you got a pressure washer get hold of some Autoglym Motorcycle Cleaner (better than the engine cleaner apparently) - spray on and leave for 10 mins and blast off. Then spray on Augotglym Vinyl and Trim Care and leave to dry over night :afro:
-
Cheers Rhyso,
Thanks for the hints, I used to use the motorcycle cleaner on the bikes when I had them........never thought about it for the car :embarassed:
-
Well, that's the other wishbone on  this time it went much easier than before but still have left pieces of my flesh on the underside of the car
The knocking has (so far) now stopped, the anti roll bar bush was completely fecked so that was replaced as well.
Popped on a pair of new numberplates as the old ones weren't displaying the BS number and they were looking a little bit tired.
Will be out and about in it tomorrow so I'll be able to tell if it has really stopped making the noise while driving.
-
amazing the difference a clean and tidy engine bay makes - especially when it comes to working in there :afro:
guy did mine on the passat - dont think it had ever been touched
-
car is looking awesome mate!!!
-
really likeing this...if it had the g60 flywheel id have it off it  lol
-
will have to pop across one evening mate to have a look at this! soon as we have a sunny day and i get done from work early will hae a drive up
-
Nice one Drew  be good to see that lovely Mk3 in the flesh
Well, after a bit of a problem with the front top mounts not wanting to be any good and needing immediate replacments, I have got the car cleaned and ready for the All types show tomorrow
Some pics

Hopefully there will be some goodies to be had in the autojumble tomorrow
-
looks stunning after looking at yours I have realised my bonnet does not sit right
would love to get mine looking this clean one day good work there mate
-
Cheers Rob :afro:
Unfortunately it didn't stay that clean for long . The rain made sure of that on the way to the show but the sun did make an appearance on the way there and stayed for the rest of the day

Top day at the castle
-
Sweet  The wheels really stand out.
-
looked like a good day mate!!!
cant wait till the next one!
defo going to that lol!
looks really good now mate, enjoy!
-
It was a really good day Robz
The car ran great all the way there and back, the only snag now is the discovery that I now have auto wipers
Only occasionally, the wipers decide to all start working . I have to then move the control stalk to stop them......just hoping it's some crap in there somewhere that just needs cleaning up :undecided:
-
Well, the wiper issue worsened
Front and rear wipers going at it full time, the rear had also decided on it's own routine  . So before spending loads of money on a new wiper stalk, relays etc. I had a butchers at the wiring. Fuse box out, nothing wrong there, cleaned wiper stalk contacts and checked the block connector to see if that was dodgy. Put it back together and "hey presto!" they didn't move when I started the car..........then I let the handbrake off and the bl00dy things started going hell for leather again .
Turns out the handbrake switch is connected to the wiper motor loom so something in there isn't quite right but I'll have a look at that when it's cooled down outside a little, I've taken the handbrake switch off it's mounting so the wipers are behaving now but I have the brake warning light claring at me now
Then I've realised the fuel pump is on it's way out  it starved it'self twice the other day when I put me foot down and it's making a right noise now  so that's on order.
Finally, the arch rubbing and gravity defying front end have left me with no alternative but to purchase some FK coilovers that should arrive this week..........guess what I'm doing next weekend
-
bugger andi, one of those weeks for ya...
have ya ordered the fuel pump, im sure i have mine from my 1.8, if its the same, you cpuld have that for nothing!!
sure its somewhere unless i binned it in the move :)
-
Not sorted one yet Robz,
where you living now?? is it close enough for me to pop over??
Yeah, was a bad day yesterday Mate, enough to get me considering the free listing day on the bay :lipsrsealed:
-
I'm about an hour and a half away from you mow in Swadlincote :)
I'll have a look in the garage in a minute but I have a bad feeling it's not gonna work on your car?!
Do you know the right part number?
-
I haven't mate I'm afraid :embarassed:
My brother is pricing one up today from the motor factors so I'll see what he comes up with.
Swadlincote eh?? isn't that near the Corrado dealers?
-
think they are in stoke lol
dont tempt me you sod lol
couldnt find it this morning mate, will rip the garage apart tonight, it needs sorting anyway lol, so will see what i can find!!
the embarrassing reason i have a spare is cos i thought it had died when in actual fact the tank was empty :(
ii blame the rac man, he said it and i took his word for it instead of investigating it further (btw, the rado ran out at a 1/4 full, so not just me bieng a numpty lol, does yours run out earl on the dial??)
cheers
-
Never let it go much below half TBH Mate
Got a new pump coming for it now (another £80 I can't spend on sparkly bits )
Coilies should be here tomorrow so It'll be a busy weekendb
-
lol
lol, i dont now ;)
well if i find it i'll fetch it up next time im your way and then ya have a spare lol
enjoy mate, im gonna try and sort this exhaust tonight cos the rattling is annoying the hell out of me!!
you'll certainly be busy then!!!
-
Cheers Mate :afro:
Can you believe that not one but both Parcel shelf straps have just broken on me
Ghetto fix with some accessory cord going on now, pics to follow
Bl00dy Corrado's
-
lol, mine never had any so thats how i solved it :D
how low are ya going on the coilies???
-
Going to go as low as possible Mate to keep it a little useable but not to have the big gap between the front wheel and the arch any more
-
top man - back to inpracticality like me :D
think itll look the nuts after that, what else ya planning for it other than tarting existing parts up?
-
A few things really Mate
Toying with the idea of removing the rub strips off the sides as I've heard they're only bonded on but I will investigate further before I tackle them. Doing a little something with the roof :lipsrsealed: and going to start looking at performance me thinks
Wouldn't mind getting me hands on a full Cream leather interior  but I know what the cost would be
Not seen much of an update from yours recently................................what've you been up to??
-
Well, this is what happened to the parcel shelf straps.............
And this is what my Ghetto fix is.....................................
Sorry for the crap pictures, taken on my phone
It'll do for now
-
Looks like the parcel shelf straps in the mk5
-
Lol
they look pooped :)
had a bit of a break really cos I've been playing with a mini moto lol
just don't wanna lose interest in it cos I'm trying to get everything done!
If your doing the rubber strips mate be prepared to start re painting, they are bonded on but with industrial strength glue, I wrecked my nearside doing it, but i do prefer them without!
Intersting plans with roof??

Now look what you've done chuff lol

-
Well, got an early start on the Coilovers this afternoon and got the fronts on
Got measuring and the front is now set at 65mm down (I guess they will settle more :undecided:)
I decided to not paint the springs Cream first though (sorry Chuff )
So the front used to look like this..................
And now it looks like this
Once they've settled I'll reset the camber so it doesn't completely sh@g me tyres.
Going to get the rears on in the morning and also put the brand new fuel pump on
Then I'll start to enjoy me weekend
-
lower - still got clearance between the top of the tyre and the arch
-
Nice that mate!!
Should handle a little nicer and looks fapping awesome!!
Have ya painted your calipers green??
-

-
Right, the rears are on and set. The fronts have been lowered another 10mm (to keep Chuff happy )
Ride is suprisingly comfy and it handles much better
The biggest difference came when I replaced the external fuel pump, feels like it's got a new lease of life
Pics will come tomorrow when the rain has passed.
-
:afro:
-
Well, this is how it stands as of today
Gave it a bit of a wash.......it was ready after yesterday
Down around 75mm front and 70mm rear.
Front can't go much lower as the 20mm spacers gave me problems when I turned the wheel
Hope it's low enough for you now Chuff

Chuff, you are being held responsible for that
This weekend will see the gutter covers revamped, as these will never be taken off by me so they will be getting cleaned out and a dose of black sealant squirted in
Looks a bit crappy at the min. :embarassed:

And got a little bit more vinyl . Got to finish trimming but stopped because me head started hurting from the concentration so just a little taster pic

Cheers fellas :afro:
Took bl00dy ages Rob, about 3 hours  need to trim a bit more round the sunroof but nearly there. Hides a multitude of sins
A picture to show the full effect.
I'll try and get some better ones tomorrow

come show it off at the Bristol meet!
-
Cheers for the comments guys
Unfortunately, the car wont be going anywhere for a while :embarassed:. Going up Buxton to book it into the body shop today
I had some info off the C forum that the rub strips on the side were just resin bonded on . Right I thinks, I'll set to today and get those things off. I first soaked them for a couple of hours with some label remover to soften the resin.
Then I set up with the heat gun and started taking them off. Started with the small bits on the front wings and they both came off beautifully . A bit of polish and you'll never think there was anything there
Then the doors  These had been taken off before . One was siliconed on which was a nightmare to remove and the other had some sort of plastic resin bonding it :undecided:. The true horror of this is that the previous removal person had used a screwdriver to prise the moulding off   which has left me with this............
The rear quarters were the worst, there has been a bit of bodywork there before but not a very good job has been done . This became more apparent when I removed the strip
Looks like I'll be carless for a while
-

should have left them on
-
Too late for "should have's" Chuff
It has pointed out a couple of things to me that needed doing anyway so not a total disaster :smug:
Are you actually here though Chuff
-
yes mate - deffo a keeper this car with all the work you have done
and no, i am not here - its just my shadow
-
 will look better without them, shame they did not remove.
-
Yeah, I think it does Wayne
I was expecting a bit of difficulty with the car being over 17yrs. old but not quite this much
I found a bit of bubbling going on behind the rear quarter trim (explians how much came off!) and a scab on the bottom of the passenger door so they will all be dealt with
I'll see when I can book it in today........he does a really good job and has a quick turn around
The missus is picking up her new car tonight (Mk4 20vt) so I'll bod around in that until mine's done
-
Silicone and screwdrivers  Unlucky mate, but it will look mint when it's sorted out
-
It was gutting mate
At least I have it booked in for Tuesday morning at the body shop and should get it back by Thursday  and all will be well again
-
Lol
ya did what I did, thought it can't be as bad as they say it is, oh bollox lol
should look brill when it's done though!!
-
Bugger. Will look better without them tho. Just hope that tescos near you doesn't have too many door dingers. :lipsrsealed:
-
Got it back tonight and it looks soooooooooooooooooo much better

Oooooooo....................might give that a go :afro:
Next on the list is a pair of rear wheel bearings as one is howling at me at the minute  Nipped it up this morning and it's quietened it down..................................for now.
-
what a difference...looks soooo clean without them... good job too!
-
Cheers, yeah, he's done me proud with the work he's done
Just wished that he had done all the other bits that needed doing . The bonnet really needs doing along with all the little blemishes everywhere
Still, can't complain. It looks well enough for now
-
why the bra
other than that the car is
Love it!!
-
Totally agree. Lose the bonnet bra and that car is
-
The bra is just for running around in, the front edge of the bonnet is not too good and I don't want it getting any worse :embarassed:
Also saves me having to scrub the flies off the bonnet when it's had a run
-
Someone's wee'd in your front foglights.
Just so you know, like.
-
 . . . . . .
-
Just the fogs DH
Thought you might like them :afro:
just thinking on DH, what have you done with the old 9a motor out of yours??
-
Someone's wee'd in your front foglights.
Just so you know, like.
It's happened to mine too. Very annoying......
-
Love the roof :afro:
-
just thinking on DH, what have you done with the old 9a motor out of yours??
Sitting in front of the workshop container at the moment.
Nothing doing.

IIRC,
Nick said it had a KR inlet cam in it. Just wondering if you wanted to sell the cam or is the motor destined for something else?

You can see the missus's new toy in the background so I'll no doubt be asking the Mk4 peeps some questions soon

-
Great looking car. You've done well with this one. Maybe I should apply the same colour scheme to my GL?
-
love it mate! sooo clean!!
-
Cheers Fellas  When you up this way next Drew??
Well, after thinking to mesen that the 'rado had to go due to me changing jobs which was immediately followed by a persistant Chuff yet again making me see sense   It is staying...........
However, the car must have heard me . It decided to starve itself of fuel on the way home from a meet, not stopping, just spluttering. I pulled over and the new fuel pump I put on was making a noise like there was no fuel in.
I'm buying a new lift pump for the fuel tank and poppin a new fuel filter on whilst I'm at it.
A couple of pics of the 'rado with our local club at the motor show a couple of weeks back
All is well again with me and the car..........wondering what to do to it next though??
-
looks sweet, didnt know you were thinking about getting rid...
dibs, lol.
glad your keeping it though with all the hard work that has gone into it!!
more power i should think will be next!! ;)
-
Thinking about more power mate, Ben's 'rocco with the 20vt in it is making my wallet cringe
I'll just get these couple of things done and then see what happens, must concentrate on settling into the new job first
-
:D
bad when ya see what other people have done, brocks charged vr still makes me excited!
sent pm ;)
-
thats it , blame me
-
thats it , blame me
Well..........you are partially to blame for the missus nearly poking her eye out when you "persueded" me to keep dropping the ride height
But I thank you for this one Chuff, I wouldn't have been happy in a newer car (plus I've now sorted into a car pool for the journey to the new workplace :afro:)
-
Right, on with some gremlin fixing time
Lift pump took ages to arrive at the dealers  but tonight saw it replaced
I've not been out in it yet but it starts and runs so that's a good sign :afro:
I checked the fluid levels on the car at the weekend and the water level was low in the header tank  . Checked the oil straight away to check for mayo.................................none found, phew!!
Ran the car up while it was on my brothers ramp and spotted a leak around the water pump. So as a matter of course I have bought this.....
Along with the gasket so I'll get on with that this weekend
-
Nowt much to update you on, just had a great day at Tatton NWVW show today so I thought I would pop a couple of pics of the old girl
Looking for new wheels now
-
mega sexy, im so jealous, especially today :D
-
Looking real good!
-
Well, been tinkering again
Was fed up of seeing the scabby old door handles and had seen some 'rado's with the early style Passat rears put on to de-lock them
I wasn't a fan of the square style of the passat rears so I looked for something else
Ended up buying some ate style Passat rears that needed some modifying but I like the challenge of making things fit
So, after some filing, drilling & tapping, along with a bit of masterful welding from a good Mate. These came off.........
And I have now got these on......
Now you see it..............
Now you dont
Just going to go out now and clean the 245,950 greasy fingerprints off the doors :embarassed:
-
That looks awesome mate!! Well done!
-
Small change but it makes a big difference, looks cool
-
yeah nice touch.... is it officially de-locked now then?
-
yeah nice touch.... is it officially de-locked now then?
I've left the lock in the boot Mate, not totally confident in the battery life of the alarm fob
Going to be doing a bit of work on the boot as well soon  :lipsrsealed:
-

Going to be doing a bit of work on the boot as well soon  :lipsrsealed:
Yeah id be the same.... shame there isnt a handle around that fits that have the lock hidden behind a cover like you find on later cars... I always wonder how safe people feel when they fit door popers on the car and delock/handle everything... what if it fails!
-
If it fails he's f**ked!
Car looks great Andy. :afro:
-
If it fails he's f**ked!
Car looks great Andy. :afro:
I'm going to buy a spare drivers window and carry a brick around with me at all times
Cheers Mate :afro:, got drunk last night and realised today that I've bought some more bits for the engine bay :embarassed:
-
Wow! You must get pretty fecked to go buying stuff and not realise. You fool. LOL!
-
I'd been at a BBQ all afternoon and had been talking about motors all the time.
Got home and fired the computer up..................apparently
Still, checked what it is and it should look nice
-
Look forward to seeing the results then, always had a soft spot for your 'rado. :)
-
Hilarious mate

looks awesome mate, gets better this!
-
Cheers for the comments :afro:
Should be able to get some pics up next weekend
At least BBQ season is coming to an end
-
Just to convince you more about keeping at least one lock, My mate completely de-locked his car even the boot, drove & parked at Airport for a week came back flat battery, no way in
Marcus
-

-
Hi Mate,
Got to work tomorrow  Will be around tea timeish though

-
Well, drunken purchases have arrived throughout the week (still more to come though )
To go back a little, the engine bay started out like this..............................
Now it looks a little nicer

Will update more as the parts keep landing
-
That looks really good mate
what's the green pipe? Vacuum?
-
You mean the one with the Corrado logo on??
That's for the ISV Mate.
-
Yeah, looks smart, at least the hangover was worth it then!!
Power Rowr pipe worth the money?
-
It was Mate, cheap enough and fits perfect.
Only (I think) bought it for cosmetic reasons
Some of the plastic pipes were a little buggered so replaced accordingly
also got rid of that big plastic cowling over the radiator, been in contact as well (it turns out) with a guy who can supply a rad fan upgrade with billet brackets.
-
Cool!
It's nice to replace lots of bits at once!
Think I'm gonna start my wheel refurb this weekend!
No borbets on edition?
-
Oooh...........bugger
Not looked on there today, cheers for the reminder :afro:
-
ya've got some havent ya.....?
come on, how long we gotta wait?????
-
Got quite a bit of work to do to the new wheels before they're shown
Need to get some winter wheels now and sell the brocks that are on at the minute
-
lol!
nice one mate, yeah, thats what put me off, quite alot of messing around to make em fit!
be well worth it though when they are on!!
-
Where did you get the inlet manifold from bud? How much too?
Bay looks a lot nice, I want to do the same with my bay, or along the same lines. Cleaning it up and putting to better bits on it.
-
Got the inlet and a polished rocker cover from a Mate for £50.
Sold the rocker cover on as it would have looked too much :undecided:. It's a 50mm inlet instead of the standard 44mm item.
Think I'll start and keep me eyes peeled for a green samco hose kit
amazing what you buy when drunk :embarassed:
-
Loads better
-

Cheers Dec :afro:
Well, decided that the rear seats were neither use nor ornament so out they came, along with the seatbelts, parcel shelf and the shelf supports.
When I had done this though I had lost all of my rear speakers  and the stereo sounded crap
I'm going for a complete re-trim to get rid of the old grey interior and get something done to match the whole colour theme of the car.
I kept looking at this.....................
And then I decided that this is what I needed to do (cue the noise of power tools, saws and hammers. Along with the smell of glue )
I know it doesnt match anything in there yet but it's a start. Also the shallow fit sub is about half the weight of a normal one
-
The interior is going to look sweeeet when that's finished  Awesome idea man
-
Will look sweet when finished.
-
now that is gonna be smart!
-
Thanks Guys
First door card 50% complete.
Still waiting for some piping to complete and need to do something with the door pocket/speaker mount.
-
Now both door cards are complete, might get rid of the piping though :undecided:
Rear cards are done also.
A Peugeot 206 supply a very handy cargo net so that the rear can still be used as a boot
Not sure how to tackle the rear arch carpets though :undecided:, answers on postcards please
-
looking good buddy, and to think you were going to sell :lipsrsealed:
oh and the piping is
-
I know, I know............
That's what I'm thinking too mate , it's gonna have to go.
-
What piping? There was never any piping :lipsrsealed:
Nice work man :afro:
-
Wow
Looking smart mate!!
Ya were thinking of selling??? What and why?? Lol don't! You've been told! ;)
Good wrk though! Although I'm not a fan of the piping either...
Wanna sort my interior too ? :D
-
Piping is no more  took some removing though, the adhesive was quite strong
Had a dark moment where I was going to rid it because I'm using it every day now for me new job but changed me mind last minute  Was going to buy a winter sh!tter but I'll just not go to work if it snows too bad
This will be the last interior I do mate, getting the original covering off was quite a task, my finger ends are feeling a little sensitive right now
Got some Cream leather seats in mind, just need to find the right condition ones
I also have a spare dash in the shed that will be sent off for re-trimming ( I don't fancy tackling that ).
-
Lol
Yeah, I wanna flocked dash, but it a big thing to start isnt it!
Looking good though!
Bet your well happy!
Yeah, I'm never driving to work in the snow again, not crashing a car for work again lol
-
I'll be happier when I have the seats I want, looking a bit funny at the minute with half the interior being gream and the rest being grey :embarassed:
Once the seats are bought and in and the new wheels are done and on I'll be a lot happier mate
-
Yeah!!
Did ya get borate a's?!
Colour scheme??
-
You'll have to wait and see on the wheels Mate
-
hate to agree on the piping but the rest looks plush.. saw a mk2 boarded out with low level speakers, yours looks better and i want to do it when the time comes. sub will be in the spare wheel well though. nice work! Yeah those nets are handy, i nicked a couple from a hire car and and ex company car! :lipsrsealed:
-
Ya can't keep secrets mate lol, it's just not fair :D
-
Looks really good apart from the piping.
-
Will post pics up when I've sourced new seats to show without the piping :embarassed:
Just had to try it
-
Sent the new wheels off today for their first part of the refurb
-
Nice one mate!
Got my photos to come tomoz, but my calendar entry will be posted up later!
How are the seats coming along?
-
Missed out on the seats I was after
Oh well, the search continues
Look forward to seeing the pics of yours Mate. Will have a look round for it later
Decided to go a completely different route with the wheels now so they'll be much higher maintenance but I reckon they'll be worth it
-
Just put a taster pick up!
Chuff will be proud of ya lol
When are we expecting pics :D
-
Well Mate,
First I'm having the rims mirror polished,
Then the centres will be painted,
Then some detail painting to be done when they're back. The best thing is I have the green light from the good lady that they can reside in the spare bedroom until next spring when they go on
-
Well trained mate!!
My mrs has been very understanding, as my wheels have resided indoors alot also :D
Sounds good though!
-
Today the postie has brought me these
Bought off another forum for a very reasonable price :smug:
-
you tart, lol
have to say, when my samco hoses are cleaned up they still look really goos, and have been on there since before i bought the car, invoice is dated '06 :D
enjoy fitting em though :D
-
Waiting for new clips so they'll not be going on today
Going to do them at my bro's garage up on the ramp so it should ease the pain
-
Nice... shouldn't be that much of a pain to fit.... will look good when done though!
-
Got a couple of them on already.................couldn't resist :embarassed:
The spare dash I bought got shipped off to Nottingham yesterday along with my glovebox to get it flocked in beige to match what I'm doing with the interior
Will post before and after pictures when done :afro:

Bit more yellow than I would have liked but I'll see what it's like when fitted
-
Looks an awesome colour in the first pic!... jelous... bet you cant stop stroking it!.... and the dash
-
If it looked the same as the first pic I would be really pleased Mate. However, it's really yellow and matches asolutely feck all else in the car
Emailed the company to see what needs doing to rectify the problem
(does feel nice though )

I'm guessing you saw the colour of the flock before it was apllied?
(does feel nice though )
What about the dash?
-
I sent them a sample of the material I had used and told them to match it was good as they could. They didn't
(does feel nice though )
What about the dash?
Not tried the dash yet, I'll let you know :afro:
-
shame that mate!
can i ask how much it cost ya???
-
PM sent Mate
-
Had the dash sorted in a different colour now
This has lead to an entire interior colour change :afro:
Just waiting for the black carpet to arrive and source some seats that I've decided on and then that'll do for the inside

Really!? After all that... crazy business.. be interested to see how this looks now.. How was the dash done, stained or reflocked, if that's even possible.
-
The dash was stripped and re-flocked Mate.
If anyone is thinking of having anything of theirs flocked I would strongly recommend a dark colour
All the beige door cards etc. were dropped off at the local tip on Saturday
-
Bought mesen a couple of seats and they arrived today
Sorry for the crap pictures, the shed isn't too big

Hopefully going to be fitting them while I'm doing the dash :afro:
-
They look nice ;)
-
Seats look good :afro:
-
Cheers,
Had a bit of a panic last night and had to go outside with the tape measure just to make sure they would fit
And they do  , same width as the Corrado seats but the backs are much higher, still fit in though............phew
-
Stage one of dash swap complete
Also been able to remove about 4kg of dust out from behind there
-
The area behind the dash always scares me. Can't wait to see the dash and seats installed :afro:
-
good luck with the re fitting mate :D
-
Dash went back in no trouble Mate :afro:
The new seats however, were a different story
It took 6 hours but they're in  will sort pics tomorrow when daylight is back
-
Well, as promised.
Finally got some pics of the dash & seats in
Still got to get a black carpet and sort the A,B & C pillars out but it's getting there :afro:

Cheers Fellas :afro:
I've decided that it's time for the 'rado to grow up. The Cream will be all gone once the new wheels are sorted
Wasn't the easiest of seats to fit in and had a couple of mishaps along the way but I think they work really well
-
Growing up sucks lol
Looks fapping awesome mate!!
Well done!
I've just done my a pillars in leather, was easy to do!! Sunvisors were a complete ness up though, need to start again! You doing yours? If so, ive warned ya lol
-
I was thinking of using acrylic paind for the sunvisors Robz, The stuff artists use
Used to use it on me leather jackets back in the day, never peeled so hoping it will work
Going to try some fabric dye on the roof lining but going to try and find a Passat moon roof to fit whilst I have the roof lining out :afro:
-

Hi Daz, long time no see
Hope the old girl is treating you right. Havin' a lot of fun with the 'Rado
It's a weekly project I've found
You got any plans for the Mk3 mate??
-
no plans,just keep her running
mot/lower ns ball joint £20
last week new bosch battery £41 from gsf
also new splitter from eurowagans bloody speed humps
cheers
-
Flippin' heck
I wish the MOT had been that kind to me
Nice to know it's still going strong, having the same issues with my splitter now it's lower
-
Well, most of the things I've put in lately have come back out again today
So that this...................................
Could be replaced with this.................
Much better now the carpets are black
-
Loads better
-
Very nice indeed... looks well plush in there now!
-
Looking wicked mate!!!
glad to read your mk3 is still going strong too!!
-
Cheers fella's :afro:
Yeah Drew,
was nice to know it's still going well. I put a lot of time into that motor
Just got a few more bits to do on the interior with this one now and get the new wheels on then that's it for this year :lipsrsealed:
Chequered roof has now gone as well
How you doing with yours??
-
Hey mate.... yeah is ok...
banded steels back on now and no more leaks (touch wood)
sorted the headliner and thats about it.... still have the mk3 as its parked up insideof storage! lol still need to sell!
mk2 has suspected rings and been burning oil.. but then i knew this anyway but been getting slightly worse so its being sorted asap now ad should be running tip top as soon as i know it.

-
Andy that dash is niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice
You're just not fussed about anything else now are you, just hooked on flockness.
-
Cheers Chris...............................it feels really nice too
One other advantage I've found with it is that the windscreen doesn't mist up as much :afro:
One downside to it is that although I gave it a thorough hoovering, when I first turned the heater on it was like a little black dust explosion coming out of the vents
Oh, two things actually. It needs hoovering weekly
Drew, the Mk2 is looking very nice indeed  bet you cant wait to free up the cash from the Mk3!!
-
Interior is looking sweet :afro:
-
Cheers Dom :afro:
Well, the front end has had a little makeover this afternoon
Any Corrado owner will tell you how expensive it is to replace the headlights, fogs or indicators on these so I have been running lamin-x on the fogs & indicators and I bought some acrylic protectors for the headlights. I wanted to remove the yellow (or p155 filled according to DH ) and I wanted to do a little something different with the headlights
A couple of PM's to LL and he sent me some of his protective film  . A little thinner than the lamin-x but much easier to work with (and cheaper too )
The front has gone from this......
And after a Joey mod and the light smoke film.........
Not a major change but I think it looks better
Oh yeah, I've changed the grill badges as well
-
That looks loads better, much nicer than the yellow fogs.
-
Looking smart dude!!
-
Well, the other week I fitted black A,B, & C pillars into the rado to fit in with everything else I was doing. I also wanted to colour the headlining black to suit so it all came out
My ghetto fix on the roof lining was 2 tins of satin black cellulose paint I had in the shed
While the roof lining was out I decided that I was going to try and get the sunroof to work  Oooops
Completely buggered it . I needed to get one sooner rather than later as the panel was just sat in the hole
I had heard that the B3 or B4 passat estate moonroof was a near as dammit fit so I set about trying to find one of those as a rado one would be near impossible to find in good nick and the right colour
After failing miserably on many places to find one I heard of someone getting one out of a Mk2 seat ibiza....................so I bought one
And it fits damn near perfect
Chuffed to bits with it
Next weekend.................wheels
-
Good news and find with the sunroof :afro:
-
Cheers Wayne :afro:
Latest addition

Running massive tuck at the minute but will be sorting that in the workshop tomorrow
Plus I've got to get the tyres fitted to the 9's
-
Looking sweet dude!

Just got to space out the fronts a little then finish the bumper I'm modding and put that on
-
Lush
-
Awesome
-
This looks OSSUM!!!! :afro:
-
Looks wicked.
-
Awesome
-
looks great, what wheel/tyre size are you running? have you got spacers on the rear?
-
Cheers folks :afro:
I'm runnin 7.5 on the front and 9 on the rears. 195's fitted on the front and 205 on the rear (gives it a little stretch so there's no arch fouling )
No spacers on the rear, that's just how they sit which I'm really pleased with  Just need to sort the massive tuck on the front :embarassed:
I did think of running 9's all round but that would have meant running with no inner arch liner and lots of other problems that would have occured
-
Could get a bit lower on the Back eh andy.... :D
-
Could get a bit lower on the Back eh andy.... :D
Not you as well as Chuff
Can't go much lower as the new front bumper will give me issues if I run lower
-
Perfect!
Best wheels for this I think, looks fantastic.
-
Wow, that looks immense!
well done on the sunroof find! :afro:
I love Corrado's and yours is lovely!
-
Borbets + Corrado =
Looking good man :afro:
-
Cheers for the comments folks  makes it all worthwhile
Popped the spacers on last night so the fronts sit a little better

I also have completely smoked the rear lights as the red was a bit too bright
-
this looks better every time you post up a picture, the rear lights look wicked.
-

F@ck rrados are ugly but they just look so mean and awesome
Cheers.....................................................I think
Hi Daz,
Yeah, going for the Lupo set up on the wipers. they still aren't perfect but at least they clear most of the water away
Picking a couple of new bits for it on Wednesday night at the local meet then call the painter to see how the new frot bumper is coming on
Hope the Golf is running nice now. I've had to order another ISV for this today, just decided that it doesn't want to work anymore so it makes junctions/traffic lights/roundabouts etc. really interesting with no tickover
-
Looks absolutely amazing... love it.
-
Cheers Mate :afro:
Well, the car is currently off the road  waiting for a part coming in from Germany next Wednesday so I can get it fitted and hopefully happy days again
While it's parkrd up I decided to fit a little part I've had for a bit but never fitted .
Took this out....
And popped this in
Hoping this part coming will cure my fuelling problems, if not it will either be broken for spares or complete transplant :undecided:
-
Washer bottle is ace
-
that washer bottle is quite cool
-
Cheers, It's given me the bug again to change the other parts under the bonnet for alloy items. Looking around now for other bits to install
Wilst I had everything out of the car I checked through some dodgy wiring and replaced/soldered any weak connections I could find so quite a productive afternoon
-
Im feeling the washer bottle.
-
Pimp that bay!! :smug:
-
nice
the power steering bottle looks squashed :lipsrsealed:
-

http://www.passionauto.co.uk/products/bailey-ht20-vw-golf-mk2-alloy-header-tank.html
-
 Oooooohhhh.............................................that's nice
Bit on the pricy side though so I'll keep me eyes peeled. I need to think about how to relocate the fan control moule too as it's now in the way
-
Nice....
I've got fuelling problems too.
-
I've just popped a new accumulator on mine and so far **touches some wood** it's running OK. Stripped the old one down and the diaphram was completely goosed
Just going to take the lift pump out of the petrol tank and check the filters in there and hopefully I'll be good to go
What's up with yours??
-
Fuelling is now sorted
took it for a little tootle round and this is what the return was
Not bad for a 19yr old
-
Surely that can't be accurate?
-
looking nice mate, love corrado's!
-
Told ya on fb, coasting downhill in gear is cheating :D
I got 99.9 in the golf that way :D
-
Wasn't all downhill Mate
The reading was taken when I parked up after a 35 mile trip around the peak district so lots of stop starting, hills etc.
The MFA has always been pretty accurate so it would be nice if it were to be true. I'm gonna keep tabs on this and see if it maintains this :afro:
-
Looks like I should sell my 1.4 and buy a 16v rado as a daily
-
 That's better than some dervs, surely that can't be true!
-
Looks sweet on the borbets
 That's better than some dervs, surely that can't be true!
Haha yeah, my derv averages 45ish I think!
-
Right, a bit of an update .
Got given a spare front bumper so the old mind started going
I cut the numberplate recess out, got the soldering iron out and melted it into it's new place  I then started applying some filler
Smoothed it over and sent it off for a bit of a colour match :afro:
While it was there I measured up and made mesen a little bracket at work
Then I got the bumper back today
Took the old one off.....
And popped the new one on :afro:
You can just see the little bracket under the bumper.
And then spoilt it by putting the numberplate back on
Only 2x cuts and a burnt finger too
-
Looks really good :afro:
Very neat trick with the number plate.
-
I think it looks better with the plate on. It's where VW should have put it in the first place. Good work.
Nick

Top work, that's exactly how I plan to do my front bumper and number plate. That's a swish little bracket you've knocked up there, is it stainless?
-
top work mate looks good!
-
Cheers for the comments fellas :afro:
Nick, the numberplate is growing on me now  Looks kinda OEM with it on.

Cheers Buddy, it's 304 stainless, we use a lot at work so I made this out of a scrap piece
-
....and just when you think that the car can't get any better! Love it
-
Saw this on FB... Looks ace!
Looks fine with the numberplate on and as said before, it's where they should have put it in the first place... relocated mine to a similar place as my bodykit allowed it.
-
love the thought that has gone into this project, it's very intuitive

*Like* :afro:

Ouusssh!!! I need a rado!!!

Spent 4 hours today removing this from a donor Mk4
Gonna strip it down, re-condition it, then take the rado off the road in september ready for the transplant :afro:

In time to have some fun before winter?

Nah, gonna keep it off the road whilst march next year mate. Got the engine, box, loom, gear linkage, ECU, and lots of other ancillaries :afro:
Need to take my tome with this and do a lot of research

Always had a soft spot for a corrado but don't know stupid amounts about them, as a result I haven't seen many 20vt ones... be nice to see this done. good luck with it all.
-
Good luck with the conversion, will be awesome
-
Cheers Wayne, might take you up on those coils you have for sale  also need to get a turbo for it so any advice would be gratefully received on that

What engine code is it, ko3s is the better choice.
-
should have gone diesel
-
It's an AGU code engine Wayne.
Chuff, not wanting to go down that route with this. There will be another car purchased as a runaround which may well be the dirty fuel

same as mine andy - agu
k03s it mate, thats on my list
-
Well, turns out the head is completely buggered on this motor  Price of a good replacement head is somewhere along the same price as another donor engine. So I'm gonna start looking for another suitable donor and see what I can get.
At least I've got plenty of ancillaries to put with a new motor now so hopefully by the winter I will have found somewhere to store the car and get the old motor out and prep the bay for the new one arriving
Bought a few more bits for it yesterday so pics will arrive once fitted :afro:

That's a pain in the ass!... gutted for you.... was the engine sold as sold as seen? no chance of giving it back?
-
Engine was given to me for nowt Mate
Thought I could salvage it but there was too much damage to the cam seats . Still, all the ancillaries are there and all I need is a block & k03s turbo and I'll be sorted
Seen quite a few good example, low mileage ones going for not too big money so gonna have a good search before purchasing in October  I currently have no spare room for another engine as yet
-
Ah fair enough mate.
Happy hunting for a new one then... I wonder when good stock of 20VTs will come to an end with so many conversions going on these days.
-
Exactly Mate. Keep thinking about different powerplants to the 20v but it's a relatively simple conversion mechanically. The wiring on the other hand
Diesel was another option but don't fancy all the changes involved
See what pops up I guess

It's a great unit and popular for conversions as a result, If I wasn't so keen to keep my original motor i'd go down the same route... I just wonder when they run out, bet the later engines aren't so straight forward to fit.
could you honestly tolerate a diesel chugging away under the bonnet of such a nice Corrado?

A TDI PD130 with a remap would be something different

That's what id like in my valver, I bet its a massive ballache to do though?

A7 UFO did similar but......

Thing for me now is that because I have everything else for it, I may as well go for the 20v. A friend has done a TDI conversion on his rado from a B4 Passat and happily trundles around at 65+ mpg but he admits it's slooooow
Modern ones are good but I always feel that they run out of steam early on :undecided:
-
TDI deffo run out of puff far too quick mate
you made right choice
-
Little bit of an interim update while I search for a decent engine
Old wipers.....

They look awesome man.

defo looks loads better andy

Wipers look good.

Nice!
Standard were shocking haha

Ooooh I like them, hmmm. Will they work on a mk1?

Just like how flush they sit with being mounted at the side of the wiper rather than above... looks ace, may have to have a play one day. Quite happy with mine even though they look a little out of place, aero wipers on standard arms. look a bit too modern.
-
A little bit of picture whoring

Well I think my time with the Rado is coming to an end.
I was going to park it up for the winter and do the engine conversion but I'm struggling to find anywhere suitable to do this
I hate the fact that I'm wrecking it by using it as a daily so it's going up for sale
Time to let the head rule the heart me thinks...

very nice rado how much will she be up forsale for?

It won't be leaving my house without a substantial amount in my hand Mate  . I have contemplated breaking it for spares so that no-one else had it  but I have neither the time nor the patience for that

Talking of smelling funny. I've had the interior treated to a wet vac and valet . There was a lot of sh!t that came out of those carpets

And the previous owner had done the usual of putting 6x9's in the parcel shelf  so I ripped off the old covering, made a new rear piece and re-covered it

I've also started doing a few bits to the outside via the help of lamin-x . Still to do the indicators cos I ran out of material

Also popped in some osram nightbreakers to counteract the tint .
Borbets will be going as soon as I can find a buyer for them as I have chosen the ones I want ready for it being on the road next spring :afro:
-
Looking good Andy. I know what you mean about the old shoe too!
I need to do my parcel shelf actually, what material did you use? Its pretty thin so I'm not sure if carpet will mould into the recesses properly.
-
Cheers Buddy.
It's great having one again. This has been garaged for more than a year so it needs a few bits doing (brakes etc. but that'll be done when I get the keys to the lock up
I used this material on the parcel shelf...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260739430640?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_1099wt_1018
Only needed to order 1m of it so very cheap then I used spray contact adhesive and as I placed the material on I moulded it in with the back of my hand and it has stayed in place   The material has a little bit of stretch in it so good for things like this
-
Cheers bud, just need to find some in beige now......................

These actually touch the screen
-
What are 'those' and what's the part number, please?
-
'those' are a pair of drivers side TT wiper arms. Haven't got the part number to hand but I will get it for you tomorrow off one
Lupo ones also work
EDIT:
Got the numbers..
Arm x 2 - 8N2 955 408D
Blade x 2 - 8N2 955 425E
-
A must for a Corrado tbf. I've kind of "adapted" my standard ones by bending where the spring clips on. It extends the spring so gives more tension on the arm against the screen. Its far better than before, but not perfect if I'm honest. The TT arms are not cheap if bought new from Audi, so ebay trawling or breakers yards are the best bet. The Lupo arms are more readily available and cheaper if you happen to find a couple being broken locally. This and an uprated headlight wiring loom really are must have items for a Corrado.
-
I was going to get a loom for mine again as per the last one but mine was a bit dodgy and occasionally drained the battery
I'm gonna give the nightbreakers a go before I update the loom to see if they help in any way.
Next up is a complete brake refurb and I need to find a leather repair company local to do some minor repairs to the rear seats.
-
Whilst waiting for the brake parts to arrive, I sorted the next Corrado issue........... the dodgy sunroof
Picked up a Mk3 golf estate sunroof locally and popped it in
While I was doing it I also turned the headlining black

Really taking shape mate! Moonroof looks excellent, I could do with getting one of those tbh!
-
For about an hour of your time and £20 I think it's worth it Mate
Thinking about swapping the panels in it (if I can) so I still have the original in but I do quite like the glass :undecided:

Quick update....
Metal Corrado panel fitted onto the Mk3 sunroof mech, all good :afro:
Just fitted this tonight

It is for the minute mate. Got a little 6n polo as a daily which is saving me a bl00dy fortune
great to have the option of not having to get everything done before the Monday commute
Could do with a similar garage space to yours :afro: been looking around nearby and found a house we like with a large garden with a garage so hopefully I'll be in a better position to get this thing sorted properly :afro:
-
Looks really nice, :afro:

Cheers Wayne :afro:
Right, update.....
Got the Momo in

Then I decided to have a look at the issue of the indicators not working . The hazards were OK so I knew the relays were fine and all the indicators worked. I diagnosed that the stalk itself was pooped
This left me like this....
(http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/pp270/andy-mk3/Nov2013090_zps8288d46b.jpg) (http://s418.photobucket.com/user/andy-mk3/media/Nov2013090_zps8288d46b.jpg.html)
A bit of research showed that the later controls were a direct replacement (and they look a little better so I sourced them along with the cowl and fitted them).

Also removed the rear wiper...... surprised me how much the motor weighed

And that's where I'm up to. Sorry for the bad quality pics

Bit more of an update........
New wheels & tyres, arches rolled & pulled. New top mounts on the coilovers, all red rears fitted. Full MOT, a bit of tax and it's on the road

Need to sort the exhaust where it catches the rear beam and the drivers window rattles when it's fully closed so I'll whip the door card off at some point to sort it.

needs to go .........................................

Woah! Was just flicking through like I usually do at work went from page one to this.. What a beauty

I hate you. Again whenever I click on your threads my 'Rado love comes back!

Cheers Guys :afro:
Well, a few teething troubles like the starter motor packing up and various exhaust rubbers deciding to relieve themselves from duty, all has been well......................sooooooooo
I wanted to move the washer bottle out of the engine bay, as it's a massive 4L bottle it took up quite a bit of room. As there was a redundant pipe from the original rear washer....it was a no-brainer as to where it could be put . I bought a smaller bottle for the relocation too.
(http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/pp270/andy-mk3/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsd3d7cde2.jpg) (http://s418.photobucket.com/user/andy-mk3/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsd3d7cde2.jpg.html)
This got me thinking about removing more from the engine bay so I made a false boot floor, removed some surplus items and fixed the floor down.

Ordered a battery securing tray that will be bolted into position with a sealed battery, also ordered a battery positive cable from an E36 BMW as they have the battery in the boot so should have enough spare
Then I ripped the front bumper off for some fettling

Finished the cover plate today for where the battery went. This covers all the wiring left behind and leaves all the original battery clamps in place.
A bit of polishing and cleaning up has started

Right, another update...
After the all-types show it went a bit pear shaped for the rado. It all started wen leaving the show where I left a lot of splitter near one of the speed bumps  . Struggling to find a good replacement, a friend showed me that you can get a cupra splitter to fit if you're patient enough so put one on for the time being...
Then a few days after, the hoses started either bursting or splitting, they were rotten, when you squeezed them, they split so I had to replace the lot
Also replaced the ignition coil, HT leads, Dizzy, as there was a bit of a misfire.
Then the clutch slave cylinder packed up on me, the seal split but fortunately, this only happened as I got back on the drive after being out. Had to replace the cylinder and reverse bleed the system which I would recommend for everyone to do. So simple
(http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/pp270/andy-mk3/Rado%20pics/IMG_3208_zpsa9430352.jpg) (http://s418.photobucket.com/user/andy-mk3/media/Rado%20pics/IMG_3208_zpsa9430352.jpg.html)
Finally, I decided that the original power steering fluid reservoir was a bit too big so made a custom bracket in the shed
(http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/pp270/andy-mk3/Rado%20pics/IMG_3272_zps07822e61.jpg) (http://s418.photobucket.com/user/andy-mk3/media/Rado%20pics/IMG_3272_zps07822e61.jpg.html)
This allowed me to fit a reservoir from a Mk4 golf that I had lying around () to tidy things up
Pics...

Oh yeah,

Got rid of the Corrado and got this.....

The Corrado was awesome.
But we need more pics of that.

Not a lot to say about it at the mo. Currently in the paint shop at the start of operation "de-pink". Got a replacement passenger door and tailgate coming as these are scabby. Going to do an engine swap as soon as I can decide what :undecided:

Please don't ruin it with a 1.8T

How is it ruining it?

How is it ruining it?
Every man and his dog fits a 1.8T to a MK2; you begin to think its what was fitted to the car as standard
And the 1.8T is a fcuking sh!te engine

And on that note,

Back to the shady (literally) bodywork. The car has been affectionately called "fifty shades of Red" so I need to sort this. As we have recently moved house, I spotted a small body shop on the way to the gym. I decided to give them a try out of convenience and I have to say, I'm really chuffed with the results. Got the worst bit done first...

How is it ruining it?
Every man and his dog fits a 1.8T to a MK2
There is a reason for that

Yup. Its called 'lack of imagination'

Sooooo...........................
Moving on from the engine debate, I'm continuing with the bodywork issues. The paint is very tired as previously stated and the plastics are a bit "faded" too
Got some "forever black" for the plastics and some auto finesse "triple" for the paintwork. I think it came out pretty good
(http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/pp270/andy-mk3/11825976_10153465401710682_3054436374793630140_n_zpsuiqqmkal.jpg) (http://s418.photobucket.com/user/andy-mk3/media/11825976_10153465401710682_3054436374793630140_n_zpsuiqqmkal.jpg.html)

And finally the auto finesse

The car had two dodgy panels, the tailgate & the passenger door. Found some rot free ones from a guy breaking one locally and brought them back to prep for paint.
(http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/pp270/andy-mk3/IMG_4526_zps4reprruj.jpg) (http://s418.photobucket.com/user/andy-mk3/media/IMG_4526_zps4reprruj.jpg.html)

Fortunately the new boot had also got the wiper/washer hole deleted so it saved me a job
Sent them to paint, got them back and fitted them on (old panels on the floor)

This really makes me miss my old valver.
Looks mint with it's new friend.

Cheers bud. Got a couple of little niggles to finish on the Mk2 but need a ramp for that. The corrado is very much a work in progress but I’ll get there 🤞🏼😂
