fitting a rear axle on a mk2 gti

has anyone ever fitted a second hand rear axle on a mk2? ifso any hints or tips as to get around probs that might arise.im not a mechanic but a compotent diyer and usually get the job done but theres always a certain way that make things easier. any help would be great.

i found it easier attaching the beam by the bushes first, then pivot it up to the shocks. and its very heavy! use a trolley jack to position it under the car.

Can anyone confirm that a rear beam from a c reg gti is the same as a h reg as i have been offered one for the spares i require.
