I'm close to pulling the trigger on the specification of car that I want but it looks like the trademark red pinstripe has been removed somehow or wrapped and I can't see it visible in the headlights or on the front of the grill.
Does anyone know how easy / difficult is to get this back or how would it work?
Thanks for your help.

As I've not seen the car either I'd be guessing but there are a couple of ways they could have done it...
1. Swapped the grille and headlights out for GTD items. Expensive to rectify as I guess you'd need new or second hand lights/grille.
2. Put aftermarket replica lights in it (in which case, it could be a foreign car imported. Check the spec etc. and also what lights they are.
3. They could have split the headlights and vinyl wrapped the red strip and also wrapped the red strip on the grille. Could have been done well but there's a chance the lights have been butchered to get inside them. Check their condition thoroughly.
Can't think of anything else off the top of my head. Any of the above options could cost quite a bit to resolve though.

... the car might have been in a front end smash, and cheaper parts have been used to fix it.

Thanks guys, I think something has happened or other as I don't know who in their right mind replaces GTI headlights for GTD

I bet it’s had a collision. Be aware.

If it's not right then move on and find one that is. You're spending a sh!t load of cash!

Can you link to the advert?
Have you checked it hasn’t been written off?

Definitely sounds odd. Approach with caution and if in doubt, run a mile! Plenty to choose from.

I've got a company helping me source one as I'm struggling to find one in the right specification. There's no advert as it's an auction but let's just say my spidey sense is tingling and I think I'll be leaving it be.
Thanks for all your help and opinions guys!

Yes, picking a GTI is good taste. Shame too many pedals and not enough doors....

It's the only spec for me Watts, love a bit of Tornado Red with three door!
However, I do love your Tungsten Silver and the detailing updates. I've been watching from the sidelines but hoping coach puts me in when the car turns up.
