Looks like I need a new battery after 10yrs... Nothings built to last nowadays...
Whats the type shape I need?
Only lists it as a Varta and VW part number on the OEM battery itself. 5k0 915 105 D

Did you find an answer to this? What symptoms did you have that indicated needing a new battery? My car is the same age as yours.

Beeping when opening door. Lots of fault codes when I scanned it one or two showing voltage 11.5v. Ctek charger didn't want to charge it. Window in top of battery nearly clear. Battery resting voltage at 12v or below.

Other 027 battery makes and suppliers available.

Try charging it first you may find its fine just gone flat with lack of use. Much cheaper than paying for a new battery.

I Changed mine the other day. Wasnt holding charge if not driven within 24 hours.
AFAIK you need a Type 096 or Type 027 (096 being the larger battery)
I replaced the OEM battery with a EA640 Exide Premium Car Battery 027TE which was more powerful than the original (640CCA vs 540CCA original VW)
Hope that helps.

is it true you need to code in a new battery?
Its not just a case of swapping it over now days?

Were i got it in the end was cheaper than ECP even after watching there discount offers or getting a price using a large trade account with them sadly.
