Hi I'm thinking of putting gloss black mirror caps on my tornado red Gti.
Has anyone done This? Any pics please

Not so long ago black mirrors were the cheaper spec - now people want to pay extra for them them same as white cars. Funny how fashions change!
I think the gloss black looks great with red.

Yes, I remember that :smiley:. In the early 1980’s when I was a Ford fan, I owned a couple of mk3 Escorts (an xr3 and an xr3i). They had mirror caps painted the same colour as the car’s bodywork, and all the other Escort models had black mirror caps; even the luxury Ghia model.
I agree; I also think that the gloss black mirror caps look good on a red car.

Red paint is also extra these days. I remember about 20 years ago my dad getting a company Mondeo. He wasn't allowed any options, so the colour choice was flat red, flat white or some dodgy purple colour similar to Rubin. He went for the purple purely to avoid the red and the white. :laugh:
At least the mirror caps were painted!

where the best place to get mirror cap from
any recommendation i know loads on ebay but sure of the quality
i thinking getting carbon dip ones for my white gti

just the Mirrors. The plan was the Roof also beacause i have the Panorama sunroof.
But i have not done it bacause you have to take down the interior roof if you gone do this propaply... :smiley:

Just to check - these fit a Mk7 not just the 7.5? The link says Mk7 facelift, but your car is 2015 so I assume they're the same. Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, just wanted to check before I order - thanks!

Definitely. I broke one of mine so now I have a pair of carbon fibre ones I bought off the 'bay. I prefer these but the gloss black ones were very good and easier to fit.

As I said, they are a bit trickier to fit as the clips are less flexible and can be broken if you are not careful. Also the edge adjacent to the door tends to bend inwards, you need to use something thin (a small electrical screwdriver works well) to pull the edge out as it fits against the vertical edge of the frame. Once fitted they look great.
