So in my case the wiring adapter provided by CarSystems that goes between the car and the head unit has a connector for the mic, and it comes with an OEM mic that you can put in the lights above the rear view mirror - have a look at the zoom picture on here:
http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-kit-7p6035730l-retrofit-newest-version,id417.html

In the pic, the OEM mic is the big square lump on the bottom right.  The connectors for this are two sockets/pins - in this particular wiring loom which are shown coming out of the main connector and to the left of the mic.  It's not a jack.

There is no mic socket on the head unit, as you probably know.

I thought the RNS315 had built in bluetrooth so no BT module needed? If so I would have though the mic would be a 3.5mm jack? I've not got the head unit yet so cant see the connections

While quite a few of the VW head-units have a button for "Phone" - I don't think any VW-branded units come with BT inbuilt sadly.  I think that changes with the new kit in the Mk7 Golfs.

To get a head unit with BT inbuilt I think you have to look for an alternative to VW.

Looking on the web it looks like this holds for the RNS315 too - some people have used Fiscons or VW OEM kits (like the link I posted) with them.

I currently have a Pionner AVIC F9110BT which I had in my Mk5, but I have decided to sell that as I thought the rNS315 had BT built in!   Oh well will see what happens when it turns up

Just getting ready to do the coding, but it seems I'm missing a few bytes...

Any ideas?

It would appear not all RNS315 have bluetooth built in to them, the only way of telling is to do with one of teh numbers on the side, mine doesn't have bluetooth so I have to buy a module for under the seat

Just doing the hardware install for this and I've got a couple of mystery connectors :)

There are two white connectors that come out of the new plug end for the RNS-510, any ideas what they're for?
The white one to the right is for the mic input.

Does anyone know the difference between these kits:

http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-kit-7p6035730f-retrofit,id219.html
http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-kit-7p6035730l-retrofit-newest-version,id417.html
http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-kit-7p6035730k-retrofit-newest-version,id600.html

Basically the only difference I can see is the last letter of the part number of the BT module itself. The description seems to be the same, and they all have the same functionality, and all have the same price.

From what Ive heard, the K model is the very latest?

Im looking to fit BT in to my MY12 GTD.

Thanks!

Ok, some more confusion.

I finally got around to asking the guys what the difference is between those 3 models, and they came back to tell me he 7P6 modules would have problems with phonebook download, so I should go with a 3C8 module, for an extra 60 euro or so...

From my research it looks like the 3C8 module is an RSAP capable module, something I wasnt particularly interested in.

Phone book functionality is obviously important, so Im wondering if anyone here can comment on that?

Have been trawling around the web for an hour or so now trying to find information about incompatabilities but coming up with nothing?

Thanks.
