I have a sub in a box in my boot with an amp running it.
Few weeks ago I took it out as I was going to swap my car but didnt in the end so I wired it all up again today.
I used a much thinner earth cable on the amp as the one I had fitted before was way to thick and didn't fit in the clamp propply on the amp but I made it fit.
There is plenty of bass in the car now and all works ok with new thinner cable but it's don't seem as bassy as it was with the faint cable.
Would a difarance in earth cable size effect the bass?

NO!

will be the earth cable bud. as i have seen this happen before. so change to the thicker earth cable.

Yeah ive noticed it before, what I did was get a thick earth cable and snipped the excess threads of wire till you could just about srew the clamp in.

Earth just as important as the live connection

As said before - make sure the earth cable is just as thick as the live
