1.8T 150BHP Tuning Ideas for a tuning noob
« on: 08 April 2011, 15:50 »
HI guys and gals will be purchasing a 1.8T unfortuantely only the 150bhp not 180 due to cost and age (21) :( instead of my 2.0 GTI
Have done a few searches about this type of stuff and read a few threads but tbh its all to confusing so would like to be selfish and have it in one place :D

1. Already thinking of getting it remapped.
Seen r-tech, Remap science and Revo. (which one is best?)
2. Alloys
3. Induciton kit? if it needs one not 100% sure on what they really do?
4. miltex exhaust (r32 style) but how much and is it worth it?

im guessign coilovers but not sure how expensive and are there differnet types? (prob a stupid question) or do i just get some springs? Whats the ride like on them?

Then would like to add an r32 body kit in the future with a milet exhaust but first and foremost a remap :D

What else could i add to help speed?

Any ideas welcome, oh and my budget would be a few hundred per month. Wouldnt do it all in one hit lol ;)

p.s. I'm a noob when it comes to tuning incase you didn't get that from my post.

Cheers appreciate any help. Sorry for posting as i know there are 100's of threads saying the same things but like i said it gets confusing.

1) R-tech, followed by REVO followed by A.N other
2) Round ones seem to work best
3) Pipercross panel filter is a better, cheaper alternative
4) Over-priced tat.  Find a local custom exhaust place to put something together and pocket the difference.  I saved over £50 by going non-Milltek

You going to raise and lower constantly?  If not then get a decent set of shocks and springs

R32 bodykit = nice but expensive

Rip out the rear seats, sound proofing, spare wheel, go on a diet etc etc.  Weight is your number one enemy

Think that about covers it

I guess you would just need : downpipe, cat back and back box most exhaust places would be able to knock something together for you and would prob ask what you want i.e perfomance / noise etc etc

when I had my MKiv had a Non res miltek anni exhausst and sounded lovely also had one on the R32 which was even better

I know what you need!

3 Forge hoses! For £35.00 delivered!

Look mint in the engine bay, and will add about 300bhp

What Stink has said

For sound you ask for a CAT back exhaust.  For performance you need a TURBO back exhaust.  The latter replaces the restrictive catalytic converter but sadly this bit is pricey    Cheap as chips on a diesel though

Don't forget the BMW centre caps for your wheels, they look cool. Just ignore the people who point and laugh.
80% of your posts are total tripe, as they are mostly replies to sh1te posts created by the morons that, unfortunately this forum attracts.
