sorry if this has been brought up before but iam thinking of buying a pd150, is the "chocolate cam" a problem due to remapping or does it happen in standard form?

is there a uprated cam you can buy? (stronger)

lots of theories on this but apparently there was a poor batch of cams fitted to the engines

Not sure if they were later revised along with the followers or the quality returned to normal  :undecided:

not as bad as Nick R-Tech feared which is good, mega cash to be sorted though. you still gona sell it?

Is it only the 150's that had the problem or do 130's suffer as well.

You only hear about the 150's suffering from this although the camshaft is exactly the same in the 130  :lipsrsealed:

i have a cam and 8 followers that look just like this in my garage from our old golf :grin: infact everyone i know with a 150pd has a these

there are a few 130's which have suffered :lipsrsealed:
I think they only revised the followers. apparently the followers are a weaker metal than the cam which causes them to wear which then causes the cam to wear

It drives nice now :smiley: run it in for a week or so then see what she really drives like :evil: :evil:
