I just wash and wax during regular wash, regular being the key word - works for me.

Just need something to remove stubborn marks as the people who had the car before me did not do it.

Mothers is good stuff - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mothers-Mag-Aluminium-Polish-5oz/dp/B00068GEJM

Requires a bit of effort but brings up exhaust tips nicely. Lasts well too.

If they’re really bad, you can use very fine grade (grade 0000) wire wool (don’t be too enthusiastic with it though), followed up with a metal polish like Autosol. I’d always try a metal polish first though, before resorting to using wire wool.

The key to ensuring they don’t get really bad and go beyond the point of no return is frequent/regular cleaning. I find normal washing when I wash the car is usually sufficient, and if there are any stubborn marks that washing won’t remove, a small amount of medium / light cut polishing compound that I normally use with my DA polisher, or some Autosol will get rid of the stubborn marks.

I use Autosol but never let them get bad enough to use it. I've ceramic coated them and I tend to just wipe the tips after every journey with a bit of pre-mixed ONR that's kept in the boot to keep them looking good.

Mother's stuff is good!

A cheap alternative I've found to use on spots a hurry is some good old Brasso, can't speak for how long it lasts, but it works. Also works pretty well in buffing out plastic scuffs/scratches

Pink stuff paste I’ve been reliably informed works well on stubborn marks….. mine aren’t too bad, regular cleaning will keep them tip top

Just bought my car about 9 weeks ago and the tips were really dull and marked, now after using autosol, 2 microfibre cloths and some careful use of light grade wire wool, they're nice and shinny again
