Title: speaker upgrades
Post by: pauly on 16 July 2003, 11:04
Hi, i've been told to post this on this forum.
Got a mk IV, GTI 180 with leather (May 2003).

How do i upgrade the speakers in the front doors?
Do i have to take off the whole door panel?
If so, are there screws on the underside of the panel and only on the side that meets the door hinge?

I thought i'd read that there where some screws in the door handle. If so then i can't see or feel them as my handle has wood covering it! DO you have to take this off?

Oh, and what size speaker fits, 17cm ones? Do i need a spacer or can i just fit the new infinity or JBL speakers?

Thanks for any help.
Paul

Hi Pauly :)

Fortunatly for you I did have to take my door panels off because my window fell of its runners(barstard), Anyway you know the handle you grab hold of when you pull the door shut, the bit behind the handle were your fingers are will unclip.
Then pull the whole handle off don't be soft give it a good old tug :P
There you will see three Pozi drive screws, unscrew those and the rest of the door panel should be on poppers, ;)
