off the ignition...  ;D

It's the pair of black ones coming off the plug. You could always just come off the big red one off your fan switch as that's only live when the ignition is on. Saves cutting and soldering the actual ignition wires then. Up to you. :)

Dizzie's right there, but it may be worth buying yourself a cheap multimeter to find the right wire - they are a handy little tool to own - mine's been invaluble with the stereo system and other electrical gremlins that come with older cars.
I don't own this anymore - I just can't be arsed to change the picture

I find soldering 2 wires to a bulb a cheaper volt meter ;D Just earth 1 wire and touch the other around on various terminals that you want to know if their live. it lights up when there's power - genius.

good idea, but I need my multimeter for continuity checks, current flow, volt levels, etc. but thats a good alternative for feeds.

Thats the same source I had to use on mine, and I have had no problems with it so far. The fuse is quite a high rating on it so it may be worth putting an in-line fuse in the feed though.

easy....
Connect the (+) sterio lead with an in-line fuse to the black/red wire that goes into the fan switch. Remember to connect the memory lead with the (+) also.

now connect the (-) sterio lead to a good earth. (black wire on the fan switch)

Sorted ;)
