The f*ck-nut who runs Chariots wants to be persuaded that the fact that it's still there after about two months of him thinking it's worth £350 should give him the hint that it's worth scrap value only.

Yeah?  Need to keep my eyes open for a local one.  My mate refuses to buy anything without going to see it in the metal beforehand.  Probably a wise move
