Title: Chrome wheel lip polishing!!!!
Post by: AdamMk2 on 18 April 2008, 17:24
Ive got some newly refurbed BBS RA's, black centres with a chrome lip, HOWEVER I have heard of them needing to be polished???  (They are not on my car yet)

I was recommended  Autosol Metal polish however I tried it on a small area with a soft polishing cloth and it made it darker than the original effect!!!!!

Is it a case of getting a really soft cloth and polishing for ages or do I need something else??

Will the wheels require some kind of coating too to stop the water from affecting them??

Any advice welcomed!!!

Thanks

Adam

Autoglym metal polish, Meguiars NXT metal polish, put on with a microfibre cloth, buff of with a microfibre cloth, and then some poorboys or chemical guys wheel guard :)

Autosol is hard to work with neat, its making the metal dark because of the surface contaminates - it needs working in, then buffing off repeatedly. But you'll go through a tonne of Autosol like this. I found watering it down and sticking it in a spray bottle made it much easier to work with. Have a read through my thread - I pretty much said everything in there.

Auto sol shouldnt be used on alloys wheels, its no good on polished alloy even says so on the box!

Much Much better using 1500 wet and dry then G3 compound then AG metal polish with a buffer..
