Sony Xplod or Alpine. Had both and were/are fine!

Also you need to check the depth of the speaker and what space you have available.
The two I mentioned are fairly shallow but if you go for something better quality it may be a deeper speaker. (not deeper response)

If budget, space and the amp that you're using will allow then I'd plump for a JL.

dont agree with sony though, sorry, despite being a renowned company, they make awful car audio, its like they only do it just to branch out into all markets, subs, speakers, head units, all crap!

Anyone who names a speaker range explode is asking for trouble.

What to want the sub for will depend on what to go for. Also how delicate your ears are.

If you can't tell the difference no point spending the extra.

As the OP didnt mention budget as a starter bottom of the rung the Sony's were fine for me!

Now he has said depth is and issue I very much doubt vibe or jl will fit. When I was researching subs they would not fit in my enclosure!
