Has anybody owned one of these and how do you rate. I am considering trading up from my mk3 gti 16v for one.

I'm browsing forums looking for a discussion board for this car - this is the closest yet - am I welcome here??  ???

I have just picked up a 51 plate V6 4 Motion yesterday.  I can't give you a comparison to any Golf GTI's, but I can say that it's an impressive car to say the least. Sticks to the road like glue and the V6 2.8l engine is more than enough poke for me...   :o

I will document the history of the car and pop up some pictures on my website in a bit.

Of course you are welcome here mate  :)

Be good to get some 4motion input as it never really gets much of a mention in the VW mags.

 Hi Guys (and girls)

I picked up a 4motion in January after selling my black 96'
Mk3 Vr6 to my brother (boy he got a good deal!)

Here's what I think - I love the 4Motion, on a damp morning I can dump the clutch and shoot off a roundabout
without a problem - couldn't do that in the Mk3Vr6!

However, if you have a Mk3 VR6 don't expect to feel any
difference in performance (at least in a straight line) as the performance figures show, there's not much in it.

Don't get me wrong it's a great car, but look at it like a newer VR6 in a more modern shell with better handling.

The other problem is that I'd like a few more horses, but apart from a supercharger or turbo, I can only probably
gain around 10-20 Bhp with a chip and tune up.
You turbo guys can easily get up to 200Bhp all in a lighter
car!

So - if your'e looking to move up to a V6 I would recommend the 4motion.
If your'e looking for something you can tune the turbo
is the better choice and are much cheaper - just
don't expect great acceleration in the wet!

Hope this snippet helps!

Regards,

Howard.
