Title: What is considered normal oil temp?
Post by: xHeartcoreboyx on 22 June 2011, 23:17
Well, first of all here is my set up:

[APR stage 2 tune - Ultimate Racing downpipe - APR intercooler - Carbonspeed intake]

I drive the car hard, so i am doing my service every 10k instead of 15k and monitoring my oil temp, also take it easy on the way home before i turn it off.

My oil temp is mostly at [103-106] and it sees 112 when i really push it...that is when i start taking it easy for the oil temp to decrease

The outside temp is usually around 36C

The car still pulls hard at these oil temps (thanks to the bigger intercooler]

What is considered normal oil temp? is 112 safe? what are the "limits"..

I am constantly worried about my oil temp and it's taking some of the fun away.  :undecided:

Yeah, even in the UK (never ever above 30 deg c) with a more or less standard car I see over 100 deg regularly and my car is only used for motorway cruising when it does occasionally see the light of day.

Mine while cruising on a motorway at 80mph for a few miles shows 96°C. It will goto 104°C while going over a 100mph for a while.
