Mk 7 gtd actual mpg
« on: 29 September 2015, 23:00 »
Hi all, finally decided to order a mm 7 gtd as new company car
Any ideas on what the actual mpg is?
I travel 50 miles per day to work mixture of motorway and usual heavy traffic jams.
Hoping it will do at least 45 mpg or 50 mpg even better!
Thanks

As you've posted anyway....

Is that 50 miles each way or 25 miles each way (50 miles total)?

Clear traffic and maintaining 80 mph on the motorway i'd expect 53mpg in the Summer and 48 in the winter for a 25 mile journey - add 2mpg if its 50mpg each way.

Traffic jams will make your mpg vary hugely, as will driving style and general cruising speed.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Thanks Monkeyhanger.
Its 25 miles each way - as long as I will get 45 mpg plus I will be happy enough.
Going to go for the GTD carbon grey with the 18" alloys.
Any other extras you would recommend?
Thanks

At my latest fill up this morning over 21 months and 31,707 miles my average in all driving is 47.48 with a best tank of 54mpg and a worst of (ahem) 31mpg...

The driving is a mix of motorway, A/B-Roads and town... I don't granny it and I sometimes I make use of all the performance...

I know that if I tried, I could probably do better. In my experience, I think MonkeyHanger is slightly (but only slightly on the optimistic side... If you work on an average of between 45 and 50 mpg over the life of the car I don't think you'll be disappointed...

Mine is Carbon Grey with 18" alloys. I have Dynaudio (recommended) advanced telephone (don't bother)... they come standard now with more than mine did.

It is a good choice in its price bracket, does most things well... for me it just lacks a little sparkle... but I have something else in the garage for that

mine is showing a long term average of 48/49, about 10 mile commute and school runs along with a bit of town work but no heavy long jams. Pretty easy to get 50+ on a decent run, seen over 60 when stuck at 50mpg on A roads for a good few miles. All in all you will not be disappointed if you want 45 plus.

Options - I went for leather as its easy to keep looking good and I feel adds a bit of class to the cabin. Not a cheap option but well worth if for me. Other than that they are pretty well equipped but as always you could easily add a few bits.

I'm also in NI, what dealer are you using?

Just add the parking pack and you have a great package :-)

My ave mpg over the last few thousand miles is just under 53. never get anything as low as sub 50 on any kind of run.

I have had anything from 35 mpg (full on throttle with 100mph avg speed through Germany) to 74mpg (gentle with cruise on behind lorries through Midlands with loads of "roadworks" - i.e. bollard storage where nobody ever does any freaking work - ridiculed M5/M6/M62 with avg speed of <<50mph).
Only got the 150PS Diesel but shouldn't be too different for GTD.
