Why is insurance so expensive for my mrs

Hi all,My mrs has a mk3 golf 1.8gl and the cheapest quote she can get is £473.She is 28 and has 3 years no claims so i just dont get it.I really could do with getting it down in some way as she is threatening to get rid lol.


Any ideas why its so much

3yrs isn't a great deal of no claims besides that quote isn't that bad fella ther are people on here paying 3-4 times that amount.  What you have to remember is insurance goes up same as everything else I'm afraid.

is that insured with a females only company? and also depends on area, overnight storage, occupation, milage, points

She has tried all the compare ones and direct line elephant etc.She has 3 years no claims never had a claim and hardly does any miles but with having to save for our wedding next year shes got the hump lol.

i wouldnt bother with compare websites, go direct to the company, try diamond, shelias wheels, women on wheels

Could be a number of things, postcode, car, modifications, mileage, career, ncd

For me, being a "network consultant" sheds £100 a year off from being a "web designer" - its stupid.

agreed i went from barman to manager and it dropped 297 quid! like its somehow changed how i drive  :laugh:

no its probably not changed how you drive but look at the bigger picture.....in general Bar Staff will work late at night so may be driving home tired etc, their cars are often parked where there are lots of drunk people so much higher chance being damaged / a claim etc.

The insurers base their rates on statistics which have proven that certain occupations are higher risk than others  :wink:

I'd ring the companies up rather than doing a lot of it online.
Although it takes double the time you can sometimes knock quite a bit of money off. I got £200 off this years insurance by ringing Elephant up and talking to someone.

Good Luck with it all though. Insurance is such a b!tch to do.
