Agree, seen these on a couple of MK3s now and think they suit it very well.  As far as the rubbing goes, the latter option would be my preference.

Managed to get a 2.5" system , only problem is its made for an evo 3 , oh well better chop it up a bit then

Crappy exhaust off at last!
Started to build the replacement 3" front pipe down to 2.5"
Ileft the pipe long until I knew where the rear would connect,so now I looked at getting the box mounted.
Having made some choice cuts I started to tack the various pieces together ,try ing  for max axle clearance as I knew it was going to be close when I drop the car down
(http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/gg587/bamfish89/screetch16v/GalexyS3Photos154.jpg)
So all tacked up and ready to weld it up,so unbolted it ,ah couldn't get the bloody thing out, thought I could just sneek it out but wasn't having any of it, so had to weld it under the car
I know im using a mig on a stainless system but I don't care haha + im rubbish at tig  :embarrassed:
Will it hit ?

Off for the test drive ,
(http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/gg587/bamfish89/screetch16v/GalexyS3Photos162.jpg)
It sounds like an evo now

Well thought I would do the cam belt today, what a ballache that turned out to be,should have taken an hour tops,my set up doesn't use the normal 1.8t tensioner as it was changed for a 16v tensioner because the motor was originaly going in a mk1,i had a new 16v tensioner knocking about so I decided to save a few quid and use that along with a new contitech belt,so off came the old belt and tensioner and on with the new parts, marks all lined up I tightened the tensioner bolt and  I felt the bolt go loose  ,i wound it back out and out with it came bits of alu thread,so why did this happen?, who ever did the tensioner conversion had used a bolt that was to short so was only into the thread by about a 1/4" I am really surprised it didn't come out and wreck my engine,so cleared the hole and weighed up my options, I next measured the depth of the hole and thank god 3/4" deep so I knew I had about 1/2" of good thread left,so out came an m10 tap and very carefully wound it in praying it would land square onto the good remaining threads, bingo it went in and picked up perfect,  time to stop panicking  .So this time I used a piece of m10  threaded bar and wound it in right to the back of the hole and topped it of with a new washer and nyloc nut,put it all back together and fired her up ,so that's another job to cross off the list ha.I was sweating out a little at one point, thought I might have had to buy the correct tensioner for a minuite

Really need to start doing the bodywork on this as its suffered a bit through this winter and is looking a bit crusty in places, need a passenger side wing as the bottom is rotten ,a rear door has a hole lurking behind a scab and has got various dents and scratches all over, can feel a full respray coming on somepoint this year.

Thats the trouble with this weather, it's really hard on old cars but the mk3 is a tough old bird and i've found it helps to go all round and underneath with a pressure washer once a week to keep the crud out of the nooks and crannies.

This is true , I remember when I was working at a small garage in the mid 90s there was this one customer who had a fiat croma and he used to do this religiously and it was the cleanest car ever and we all know how old fiats like to rust.

Sometimes see those auto car-washes that have a really good underbody spray but the thought of putting it through brushes is a worry.

Wheels and interior are both looking good mate. What route did you go with the mounting of the front seats?
Also, can you remember what FMIC you used as im liking the fact that youve not chopped half the bumper and impact bar away, did you manage to retain the A/C?..which would be ideal for my TDI wagon.

Cheers thai!
With the seats I cut the middle runner off both the mk3 and mk4 seats and welded mk3 runner to the mk4 subframe,i didn't want to chop the floor of my car ,so this mod is to the seats only,i can still put mk3 seats straight in if I want to swap back in the future.Rears needed a few brackets fabing up .still got a few bits to do on these!
As for the intercooler, this is the one I had,it was part of a kit with all the pipes and sh!t.

 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-25-UNIVERSAL-FRONT-MOUNT-INTERCOOLER-DRAG-RACE-RALLY-KIT-CAR-TURBOCHARGER-/230730748737?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35b89fd341

Gone up a bit though  it normally sells for 135 and isn't to bad to fit although I had to lose those lower bumper fins! I made some slotted tabs, welded them to the crash bar and secured the bottom of the cooler with another coulpe of tabs ,it is very secure and going no where, one thing is my fogs woudnt fit in because the pipes run directly behind right in the way.
AC left the building im afraid.

Ah that's cool, you still got the Vento front end or decided against it now?

You still building narrowboats by the way? I worked at Tayberg steel boats in west Yorkshire few years back, left to train as an accountant (now I go to work and am bored everyday!), seeing the boats in your earlier pics made me nostalgic :p

This is amazing. Hoping you'll be reunited with your old car.
