hello peeps,
had me mk4 gti 1.8 20v non turbo a month now, have done 2000miles in it, it was on 69k when i got it but it still felt tight, have given it a bit of stick and she seems to be loosening up know! are these 20v engines similar to the old 1.8 16v? cause i know them babies werent run in till about 80k! engine looks a bit similar but has 3 inlet valves per cylinder rather than 2. any help would be nice, lowered and fitted bigger wheels, now after air filter/exhaust, has any1 heard of a de cat pipe for these? its only 125 bhp as standard but i some 1 could give me some advice to squeeze some more horses would be much liked!

Hllo Mate,

I've got a 20v Turbo, And I've been told by a reliable source that the 1.8 20v Turbo engine dosen't actually loosen up untill about 120000 miles believe it or not and apparently they gain BHP as they loosen up, A little tip though, Dont let  a VW Garage service your car because they re-tune your engine and tighten the Fecker back up

Speaking from experience >:(
