25th Anniversary Blues
« on: 04 April 2003, 22:05 »
Just got a 25th Anniversary model (180bhp).  Like the car but bit disappointed with overall performance.  Although lighter, it seems to lack grunt in comparison to my previous motor - BMW 238i.  Have already fitted K&N filter (advised that induction kit provided no extra power). Anyone got any good suggestions (within reason) on how to squeeze another 20-30bhp plus torque without screwing driveability, fuel consumption (poor to start with!) and warranty? I live in the Lincoln area. Don't want much do I??

Well ze 180bhp version goes to about 210 and the 225 version in your lucky bastard mates car can go to 260 odd easily. All with being able to swap back to original config at the press of a button. Shockingly easy  :)

Love the way with the Revo software that they can let you trial it for a few hours and then it goes back to normal. Bet they don't get many people go 'no fanks'!!

Right, let me get this straigh *looks confused at the monitor*. This Revotechnik software, uploads to your ECU and gives your car more performance because it overrides something?

As you can prolly tell I'm a n00b at this. Rah!  >:(

I'm only 17, just bought myself a mk3 1.9D Golf, non-turbo (yeah - I can hear you all laughing! - not my fault the bloody insurance is so damn high in this crappy area!) and I was wondering if this Revotechnik thing works on my diesel? if not, what's the best ?/bhp way of increasing the car's performance? (if there is any - heheheh) :-/

Yup its all about ECU gubbins and programming, sorta like chipping but without the need for a physical chip (ask JV he's the 1 for getting it right, im merely a young un)

Its cool mate i can empathise im 21 and a student and im bent over the table for insurance  >:( hence im driving a mk2 driver 1.6 so ur beating me in performance and mpg  ;D

erm, have to think about adding more horses to your diesel... :P

Not sure about performance, & prolly lower on Mpg too!
I was just saying in one of the other posts that for a 75bhp car it feels very underpowered &  heavy on the fuel, it only returns 33mpg'ish.
I used to have a 75bhp Punto that I thrased and drove 110mph everywhere, yet that still returned a massive 55mpg.   ??? ??? lol

Maybe there's something wrong with it... *shrugs*
