Title: Changing the dash panel.
Post by: bgbazz on 30 June 2020, 17:59
Quick question for the guru's amongst you.

If I change my dash cluster for another one, will I have to have it all recognised via VCDS, or is it just a straight plug and play type swap?

2000 model TDI,

It does need adapting but it's relatively easy.

PM me for help, I can do it with Teamviewer.

Any update?

Can assist with finding a cluster as well.

The main problem is that small MFD in the lower centre of the clocks. When the outside temp is below about 25 degrees, it all works fine and the displays are bright and crystal clear, but once the temps climb the display almost disappears. No other dial lights are affected.
Our daily temps have been in the high 30's for the last couple of weeks and the lack of info is a PITA. Night time temps have been between 22 and 28,  so I know when to expect the dimming (around 25)

Any ideas before I lash out and replace the lot?

Thanks for showing an interest Michael.

VDO clocks?

Usually requires a new display.
I can repair them but it's cheaper if you buy good used clocks.
Do have some petrol ones but could convert those for TDI (dual mph / km/h scales).
Looking to get rid of them as I'll soon move house.

I'll send you a test message because the original seems to have vanished into cyberspace.
