yours a DSG or Manual?

PP DSG.

that seems very impressive for an R, i thought the R was a heap worst than a GTI hence why i'd not even considered it.

Over 30 miles is easy in eco, would be impressid if done over 100+ miles.

Don't get me wrong, that was me trying to get good MPG. Not something that's a normal occurrence in a remapped R  . I did a 300 mile run to Nottingham and back ck on Tuesday and averaged a reasonable 37mpg. Cruising between 50-70mph with moderate traffic. In town 26mpg average. So a GTi should do 40 no problem.

I don't do much motorway driving, hence the low average MPH

I've just driven to the entire length of the A14 this morning, boring road! 144 miles, average of 62mph with an average of 41mpg. This is the best I've seen in my PP DSG but I'm about to hit 10k so it's still loosening up.

Had a great result mpg-wise today in my PP manual. Coming home from work, 20 miles range remaining and today's route was 18 miles! Thought I might need to stop for fuel(!) so took it easy, cruising at 55-60 on the motorway. As I came off down the sliproad and stopped at the lights the economy was on 50.3! It was a short trip round the corner to the petrol station but I finished on 49.8 mpg over 17 miles. It was still climbing as I came off the motorway albeit slowly, so pretty sure a longer journey would have bettered that but to be honest, it was pretty boring and I have no plans to try it again anytime soon!
