whats not needed

righto, just doing a bottom end swap on my 91 8v pb car. theres a few things which have rusted beyond repair!
one thing is the heatshield that feeds the bottom end airbox warm air feed.is this needed? and then also the air feed vacume that operates the internal flap?

mine has neither of these fitted (4-1 manifold fitted) and the car starts and runs fine in the cold
