Title: Obd2?
Post by: GTI_euan on 29 January 2012, 11:50
Is the diagnostics port below the heater controls a obd2 port or obd1?

I've got a scangauge2 that I used to use in my last car but when I plug it into the golf it just says connecting? So wondering if it's a obd2 or 1

I think most cars after 1996 were OBD2, especially cars like VW.

Is the obd2 connector different to the obd1? Because the device is getting power just not connecting.

The earlier cars don't work with ODB2 devices like bluetooth code readers

i think they're calibrated to EOBD rather than OBDII. Protocol is eeeversoslightly different.
