Are you sure its not been cloned as a '1.6' ? Even says on the ebay listing it had GTI badges which makes me think it was always a 2.0, just cloned to be a 1.6?  :undecided:

what interior do you have? GTI interiors different to 1.6 so if it was a gti and theyve said theyve put a 1.6 engeine in with out doing that then you should have the gti engine. though it does look like a 2.0

try a 0-60 run if its 11 seconds its a 2.0 if its a little more its a 1.6 if its just under 10 its a 1.8n/a though doesent look like a 1.8 to me.

What about checking the chassis/Vin numbers to the V5?

Yeah ^ this should probably be quite high on your list of things to do.

ive checked the only mot i have which is the current one and the vin numbers match which means it was mot'd this way, but on checking past mots online in 2009 the miles dropped by 30k which i thought was very odd. i now recon in 2009 the plates were swapped the milage then went up normally so has been mot'd this way with wrong plates for 2 years running... omg!!!

It's got colour coded bump strips as gti do shame it's not fast enough to be a sleeper though, 2.0l engine also not very good, it is known to use alot of oil and it doesn't produce much power plus the fuel consumption isn't great
Would have been beeter to have the 1.8 20v even the n/a 1.8 20v would have been better
