Title: mk4 front door speakers

hi people! just a quick post. was just wondering what size are the front door speakers on a mk4 please?
my passenger front speaker is blown so need to replace them, will an aftermarket one fit straight in?

they are 6.5"/17cm
if you want to put aftermarket speakers in you will need autoleads adapters part number sak-3103

*bumping this thread as i have a related question*

halfords are listing a VW Golf adaptor but code sak-3101 ? it states its for 6.5" 17cm speakers so would that be the same as sak-3103 ones?

and is it just a case of drill the rivets out of the stock speakers , screw adaptor on, screw new speakers into place and use the autoleads plug adaptor for the new speakers?

does the adaptor get screwed into the holes where the rivets were or do i need to drill any new holes or is there any other mods ill have to do ?

Going to look at some new 3-way coaxil door speakers tomorrow

I remember having them in my first car (focus) and they sounded brilliant

update:

the sak-3103 adaptors state on the box 165mm , and i bought some kenwood 17cm speakers and they didnt fit in  :undecided:

soooo

took them back and got a pair of 16cm (6.5" / 6.75") JBL beautys....

will fit them tomorrow
