Rough Idle and jerky in low revs
« on: 08 August 2012, 23:17 »
Hi , I've just bought a 2000 1.8T 150bhp

The idle was a little rough so I filled up and stuck some redex in hoping it would help but seems to have just got worse.

It jumps a lot when it idles , especially when cold, and it's really jerky in low revs or when changing down gears.

I scanned it with VDSC and came up with

4 Faults Found:

17608 - Boost Pressure Control Valve (N249): Mechanical Malfunction

        P1200 - 35-00 - -

17705 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs

        P1297 - 35-00 - Please Register/Activate

16395 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs

        P0011 - 35-10 - Please Register/Activate - Intermittent

17545 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Add): System too Rich

        P1137 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

------------------------------------------------------------------

Cleared them and drove it for a couple days and scanned it again and it came back with

16486 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70): Signal too Low
            P0102 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

Now I did unplug the maf and drive it for a little bit to see if it made it any better, it didn't , if anything it was worse.

I'm guessing that's why it threw up the 16486 code though.

I'm going to change the fuel filter, and have a scan through the web with the codes but if anyone has had any previous / similar issues and could give me a few places to start they would be much appreciated

Also, the coolant is not purple, it's blue so not g12.  It doesn't look brown/sludgy though so is this ok or should I change it to G12?

Many thanks :)
