Oh yes forgot about that. Used ones both have 6 dsg but new ones will have the newer 7dsg 👍

I appreciate the PP is a great car. Can the 'exhaust noise' that's piped into the cabin be turned off? Isn't the ride a bit trashier than the standard GTI?

The soundaktor noise is the same in both, essentially the GTi and pp GTi are exactly the same apart from the pp gets bigger brakes all round, has the LSD and 10bhp more. Everything else is exactly the same.

McMaddy has it spot on there.

The Clubsport is different again.
It’s fractionally noisier under full acceleration and has harsher springs.
It’s thirstier and more to insure (fractionally)

The GTI and PP are very sanitised and the soundaktor can be switched down or switched out.
It actually sounds ok on Eco with other settings put into Sport or Normal.

Thanks guys. I was all set to order a standard GTI manual with DCC (and a few other bits) but that option appears to have gone now. I had the impression that the PP was a bit more lairy but as long as it rides and sounds the same (I'm getting on a bit...) should hopefully be fine.

....will a VW dealer disable the soundaktor if you ask?

I've got a manual pp with DCC and a few other added extras and it's a fantastic car. Being older as someone rudely pointed out on here the other day (44 to be exact) shouldn't make any difference either car is great but for the extra I'd highly recommend the pp (it's all you can order now anyway).

Probably not but depending where you are someone will be able to do it for you with vcds or obd11 or you could just disconnect the cable under the windscreen.

Thanks mcmaddy - I test drove a standard GTI and the sound was ok, so I guess I'll live with it/get used to it.

15bhp more and the new exhaust differences that we discussed in the other thread . The 245ps Performance has a throatier exhaust but no one seems to know why, it could be a different style cat since it doesn’t pop on gearshift anymore.
