I have walked past a Mk7 that looked identical to a GTD except for the single black tail pipe. Xenon lights, bumper, grill, 2 GTD wing badges, front and rear GTD badges, but 1 black tail pipe. I wanted to have a look at the seats and steering wheel, but there were 2 young men in the car.

I had a friend who in his youth, knew some people in Nottingham who would strip parts from cars to slap on to their lesser models so they would be unique and customised.  Even my friend was unsure about staying with us in Cornwall once as these associates were threatening to steal his car before he got back home.  Well the story ends by them stealing his wheel arches instead, not the entire car.  Some people will steal absolutely anything.

I can understand stealing a car, even parts from a rare classic but a bumper off a GTI? I know they're not that cheap but is it really worth getting caught for? Mind you I suppose it's hardly a hanging offence.

I do hope the OP gets this sorted quickly and the idiots that did it get their comeuppence very soon.

I didn't think Tornado red was a red that any other VW Golf used? I suppose they could respray it to another colour, but...

Strange there are so few bolts though 

My old A3 and the A6 has a 10mm bolt hidden behind the wheel arch liner along with several bolts on top of the grill

Surely VW haven't been cost cutting that much......

Bizarre. What goes through these a$$hole's minds? The bumper is hardly a hugely desirable item on the "black" market is it?

A spate of this went on in my area a couple of years back. A mate had his wheels + rear LED lights taken - which is a bit more logical (for want of a better word) than the front bumper!
