From the Auto Express review

"It may not be brilliant to drive or look at but the Dacia Logan MCV is the cheapest estate car on sale in the UK"

You...Cheapskate

"The downside of the headline-grabbing price is that you'll have to go without basic features such as electric windows, a radio and rear headrests unless you decide to choose them as options"

"the range-topping model in the Dacia Logan MCV line-up, the Laureate, weighs in at around £9,000 and feels a lot more like a small estate car from a mainstream brand"

"Dacia fits top-spec Laureate models of the Logan MCV with electric windows front and rear, as well as Bluetooth phone connectivity, chrome air vent surrounds and some exterior satin trim."

"The engineers at Dacia set-up their cars for developing markets"

" It's worth noting though, that when loaded up with passengers and luggage, the Logan MCV feels pretty sluggish, even with its most powerful engines on board."

"Dacia says 90 per cent of its customers are first-time new car buyers"

"The top-spec Laureate model gets a boot light"

Did you get the Laureate?????????

Ambiance for me, 8495 on the road.  With Renault's 898cc turbo petrol.   Mid range spec and mid range engine.
Should be a useful car, especially with the optional 7 year warranty and cheapo 3 year servicing contract.  The money I save not keeping an old Mercedes ML on the road will be a bonus.

I bought my grandson a brand new Chevrolet Spark in March this year for 5500 and was impressed by what you got for the money, air con, bluetooth and the like.  It also has a much better, smoother, ride than my old Mk5 Gti which got boring after a bit.

So the quest for cheap, good NEW cars began and I've finally twigged that I don't like riding around in a third hand premium brand that costs me the earth to keep going.  Especially as these cheap cars seem to upset other motorists, which i quite like.

You found the wrong review Elvis.  Here is one by Clarkson in which he award my new car ZERO stars...

Yes, I have more respect for the opinions of May and Hammond who both loved the car.

Clarksons also awarded zero points to the new 911 Carrera, the Audi Q3 and the BMW X1, so I'm in good company.

And he wrote that the VW Golf GT 1.4 tsi was one of the five worst cars ever made!

No need to get personal.
Just because I do things differently to the herd.

And, unlike many on here, I do own a VW and bought a gti brand new.
So put that in your daft trolling cartoon hat and smoke it.

We tested a VW UP before the spark.  The spark was the better car, the UP was just too bouncy, and nearly twice as much money.  So we got a good Korean car with lots of warranty for 5500.

The equivalent golf to the Logan is the base Golf estate S.  They cost 18325 with an 85 bhp engine and no extras.  But then you have to add VW's 650 on the road cost making a Golf S estate 19000.  Mine is 8495.

Try before you buy is the motto.  I wish I had tried the mk5 gti before I bought it for 19300.  I wonder who owns it now?  I doubt the VW main dealer told them about the substantial repair work after a lorry crashed into the back.  Come to think about it the main dealer did not know either.  The reg was YX08...
