Just get a proper Apple camera kit.

Not sure on editors to be honest, what size iPad you got?

I meant as in storage? As it'll fill up quickly with large JPEGs.

as said get the apple camera kit, your main problem is you'll be able to view / edit but you'll still be stuck with the images on the card unless you're planing on uploading them to the cloud.

http://pixlr.com/ is a half decent editor.

Another problem with the ipad is lack of RAW support, really you want an android / win8 device as these will support RAW, generally have a built in SD reader and will have USB support in order to move the files to an external drive.

Alternatively if you're stuck in the apple ecosystem buy an mac book pro.

Yeah I'm not really that hot on editing but like you say hard to do if not shot in raw!

Don't really want to be spending another £800 on a mac! Unless I sold the iPad to fund some! But want to take as much money to oz with me tbh!!

For editors, how about the obvious?
Adobe Photoshop Touch: $10 for iPad: http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/photoshop-touch.html

As for devices, take a look at these: http://www.hypershop.com/HyperDrive/UDMA-2/, it will back up your SD card to an internal hard drive and allow you to view the photos, even RAW files. And the you can connect to your iPad wirelessly.

I would also buy lots of 4 or 8GB cards and use them just once, don't delete the images and keep them until you can get home to a proper computer. Memory cards can't be relied upon completely, and there's a danger that on a trip you could lose a card and the bigger the card, the more photos you could lose. I would also keep them in a nice secure waterproof case.

why not just buy a cheep sh!tty laptop just for editing.

thats what i did for DJing, crappy laptop which just had music on and music related software which i could plug into my mixer or do what ever i want with.

buy a cheep laptop for £50. doesent need loads of fancy antivirus etc, just never conect it to the internet, download gimp or ps then once you shoot download pic onto said laptop and edit away. then every few months do a virus scan using something like avg just to make sure...
