New project Peugeot 205 GTI and MG ZS180
« on: 13 May 2012, 10:39 »
Soon i will be dubless once again and i've already bought my new project! £200 to save it from the scrapyard, it wants 2 patches of welding on the boot floor and the OSF jacking point wants re-building, it came off the road due to popping out the drivers side driveshaft!

Peugeot 205
2.0 8v Turbo
Bailey dumpvalve
Escort Cosworrth intercooler "apparently"
Power boost valve

the rest i have to find out for myself!

I know nothing of peugeot, my first priority at this stage is bodywork, need to stop it getting any worse! Rear lights are on my hit list, used to hate these cars and hated these clear lights more than anything else! The plan is to get it as mint as possible, leave the outide alone, no bodykits!!! and just get the interior and engine as nice as i can! First of all rust proofing though! Someone buy my mk2!!! Any help or advise would be amazing, It kept popping the drivers side driveshaft out, other than that it's complete and works!

Had a 205 Gti about 10 years ago running the same set up along with a 1.6 gearbox and it was an utter flying machine. Nothing could touch it. Good cars but a bit choppy to drive. Really simple to work on, even easier than a Mk2!!

Mine was only bout 170 bhp but acceleration was brutal. Even a normal 1.9 running a 1.6 box is awesome.

This was another one I had...completely standard.

I honestly can't remember the engine code as its been so long. And this was before I was even online. I didn't do the conversion myself but bought the car like that. I used to phone peugeot eccosse for information, they were always very helpful. Only conversions i've done on the 205 is the 1.6 to 1.9 and a MI16 which were both really simple. Almost plug in and play!!

You kind of took the whole "GTI forum" the wrong way

Certainly looks like a project - some of that rust looks quite nasty from the pics. Interior actually looks like it will come up quite nice though.

Keep us posted with loads of pics!

(And good luck!)

looks in a bad way to me that car, and the engine looks like a right mess

but for some reason i am liking it, would be good to get it in a decent state and the engine looking fresh

is it turbo technics??  they were 170 bhp. mate had one, was pretty quick, his was a Dimma kitted one back in the 90's
