According to Car magazine, the differences between the Mark 7 engine and the Mark 6 are:
- reinforced crankshaft bearings
- modified direct fuel-injection
- reduced friction
- improved efficiency; and
- an exhaust manifold integrated in the cylinder head
This means:
- a massive increase in torque (206lb ft to 258lb ft at 1500 to 4400rpm)
- power up by 10bhp to 217bhp
- 14% better fuel consumption
- top speed increase from 147mph to 153mph
- 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds (an improvement of 0.4 seconds)
Just don't ask me to explain any of the technical aspects in further detail!
