According to Car magazine, the differences between the Mark 7 engine and the Mark 6 are:
  • reinforced crankshaft bearings
  • modified direct fuel-injection
  • reduced friction
  • improved efficiency; and
  • an exhaust manifold integrated in the cylinder head

This means:
  • a massive increase in torque (206lb ft to 258lb ft at 1500 to 4400rpm)
  • power up by 10bhp to 217bhp
  • 14% better fuel consumption
  • top speed increase from 147mph to 153mph
  • 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds (an improvement of 0.4 seconds)

Just don't ask me to explain any of the technical aspects in further detail!
