GTD Service Intervals
« on: 23 March 2016, 23:36 »
my GTD will be a year old in June and has done 5000 miles, should it be serviced once a year or after so many miles?

My BMW had condition based servicing which made it very clear when it wanted to return to the dealers but it's not clear in the service info menu. Checked the manual as well but couldn't find anything.

It's approx 10,000 miles or 1 year -what ever comes sooner, if you are on time and distance servicing, which I guess you should be based on your mileage ( not flexible interval).

By default they are on condition based servicing. Only if you bought a service plan do they go onto fixed interval servicing.

Either way it's the same oil iirc. 10k miles/1 year standard interval on fixed servicing.

Its a lease car through VW and i got maintenance included, probably easier calling them to find out.

Depends on the dealer from my experience they have set it on fixed interval servicing without me having bought a service plan or asking.
Assume its a 'business' decision on their part.

Mine is the same age as yours (June 2015) but has done quite a few more miles (just over 18k currently). It is due its first service now under LongLife.

Seems common for dealers to change them before delivery to time/distance eg 1 year/10k. They all come from factory set to longlife and if buying brand new you have the option but as above they change without asking to get you back in garage sooner.

My leased GTD is on the longlife interval, which is a dynamic interval.

I rang up the lease company a few weeks ago and said that the count down had come up and was it ok to service it now because I had a convenient window in my work diary. I called them because the VW dealer said "ask because lease companies are funny"

Their answer was that it should be done every 18k and to ignore the computer and that the VW dealer was talking rubbish...

So basically, ask the lease company, do whatever they say!

Superb! So they advise people to ignore the manufacturers servicing schedule!!
