I forgot to look last night, but have just looked.... nope, nothing yellow there at all.

How long ago did your car have an oil change though?

Had the session with VW, they have changed the oil filler cap and the rubber seal on that seems a few millimeter heigher than the previous. 

I've done about a 15 mile trip and checked and it appeared as you would expect with no 'yellow peril'.

I've got a long drive this weekend so will give it a good test and l'll report back, hopefully this is the fix.

Drove just under 500 miles this weekend and no signs of the yellow peril, seems the faulty cap was at fault.
