Original Date
« on: 19 June 2015, 09:49 »
HI All,

Just a quick one, I've been waiting for my GTD since the order was placed on Jan 28th. I have had 3 emails/texts telling me the order has moved to Stage 2 (despite being on stage two for 3 months) and heard absolutely nothing since!!!!

I spoke to the dealer again the other day and i think he got the impression i was calling him a liar and that the order hadn't been placed. After this, he sent me a screenshot of his P/O in the system.....There are a couple of dates written on his POS system and I just wondered if anyone has any idea if the "Original date" is the expected delivery date?!?

Order date: 28-1-2015
Required Date: 20-4-2015
Original Date - 8-8-2015

The acceptance Date is written as 16-2-2015 so it cant be the whole allocation jobby either!#

JUST GIVE ME MY CAR DAMMMIT

My order placed, deposit paid, on 16th. April and now showing as stage 2, 'with the factory'.

Note to Twickenham VW : an occasional e-mail to say 'thank you for being patient' would allay fears that my order has been lost.

Hoping for September delivery but now beginning to think it might be delayed.  :undecided:

Having agreed a deal with my current car going in part exchange i'm extra concerned that it doesn't get damaged or the service light comes on in the next three months.
White 5 door GTD ordered 16/04/15 with all the driver aids, DSG & glass roof.

Collected 9th September 15

Traded in silver Jaguar XF 3.0DS 315hp Celtic tuning remap

Honda Forza 300 for fun on two wheels! :)

That's what I'm worried about, if say my car takes 6 months to arrive, in that time I may need new tyres, service etc all expense to me that I wouldn't of had with the new car, so that's a bit hard to swallow :undecided:

Mine is a new order placed on 01.05.15 - Tracker update today is that the car is built and at Stage 5a - left the factory.  I ordered it with being told to allow 19 weeks as I will register it as a 65 plate, so it's going to be here well in advance of that - happy days!

Mother.....haha i guess its luck of the draw mate!

I just want some kind of expectation. Ive never once been given an "estimated build week" i just get told nothing!

The only date i can see is this "oringal Date" which i assume could be estimated. Its as clear as mud!

I wouldnt mind waiting 6 months if i was ordering a hand built Mclaren, but this is a flippin Golf. jeeeeeeez

Rather than wait for your dealer to contact you, have you contacted them for updates?  It depends on your salesman, but I find if you keep in fairly regular contact and make it known you want updating, you tend to get a better response.  Have you requested an estimated build week?  Not sure where you are in UK, as I know places like Ireland don't get tracker numbers etc.

I ordered an R on 29th Jan (aiming for a 1st Sept collection) and was given unconfirmed build week and tracker no, day after ordering.  Unconfirmed build week has jumped around, starting at week 28, then to 45, back to 29 and last week was 34.  If it stays as it is I'll be looking at collection end Sept which is a bit annoying as I thought that ordering some 7 months in advance of required date was reasonable  :undecided:  Regardless of the wait, I've kept regular email contact with dealer and have been kept in the loop.

Not just VW... all of VAG work like this.

I expect that there are certain models that sell in large numbers that they make regular stock deliveries of to sit on forecourts, but the "specialist" Golf models are not one of them.

Certainly if you walked over to Audi and asked about an A3 you would be told exactly the same.

And yet you can get a BMW factory built to your own spec in 6 weeks apparently.

Goes without saying I've been in constant contact. The car is on a business lease so i am talking to the lease company once a week or so. I was in more contact but all they say is "nothing to report" He's copied me into his mails to the dealer so I'm happy they are playing with open cards (Hence he sent me the screenshot of the order screen)

Its not a pop at the dealer (Doncaster) from my part as they are simply telling me what they know (nothing). All i can see on this screen shot that could correspond to an estimated build week is is a column that says "requested date" and then "original date" being August 8th! Every time i have asked for an estimated build week i've been told there is nothing to report!

The tracker was on stage 2 for about 12 weeks. Then i got a text to say it was on stage 2. last week i got another text to say the car had moved to stage 2!!!

I'm just frustrated with it. I was told originally that the wait could be 3-4 months but if its August then that is 7-8 months which is crackers for a mass produced car! (He did mention at the time if iw anted an R it would be 9 months)

I still don't understand why they aren't at least able to give you an estimated build week (for what it's worth!).  I get that your dealer is giving you what info they have but maybe they need to press VWUK a little harder. On a couple of occasions, including when my build week slipped to week 45 at the time of the MY2016 system changes, I had to nudge my dealer to contact them to get a more definitive answer.  He did, or at least that's what he told me  :undecided:

I really don't know what the 'original date' is.  If it is the unconfirmed build week that would be end week 32, so around early Sept for delivery/collection.  Apologies if it's a stupid question but have you asked them what the original date refers to?

And, 9 months for a Golf, any Golf is bloody ridiculous.
