Hi mate,

Cheers buddy!

Were you the younger lad or the one with the smokey turbo, sorry your piccy in your sig doesn't give it away enough! and i'm rubbish with faces!

Sam

I was the 'younger lad' at a guess ;) SabreK's was the smokey one..I spoke to you as I was leaving, and spoke to you bout your front lights.

Yeah mine was smoking £20 worth of Castrol Edge!
I had checked the oil level in the morning and was down to half, so I filled up with 2 litres.  Didn't know the turbo sucked it up because the vacum hose had disintegrated.  Think that's probably why the turbo died during the first run.

Ran 176 ish with a boost leak (vac hose failure)
Ran 129 BHP 175.6 FT LBS once the turbo had died.

Planning to take the turbo and intercooler out for a clean and maybe and engine flush.  Does anyone know if it is a hard job or just a PITA?
Meanwhile I've ordered a KO3S and FMIC ...

Thanks to R-Tech and XSpec for hosting this event

AET Turbos - not many Golf parts in the scrappies round here and MOT is due next week!
bobbarley I'd wait a bit and find a good KO3S at a decent price.  Repairs can cost from £200 - £500 at that point you might as well buy a remanufactured unit for £540 plus you would have to send your turbo back.
