Hello all and administrators,
I consider myself a car enthusiast and have a good general knowlegde of all cars, but no one is perfect or knows everything about everything or do they?
Speaking for myself here i always like to improve my car knowledge whether it be engines, modern cars, used car values, automatics, classics, super cars etc etc,
Being on this site i know there are very intelligent and very knowledgable people on here and evryone has their strong point in areas, ( from what i have read)
so whilst here i thought why not set up learning games like quizs for people who want to learn more about their vw. in all catagories.
test your knowledge games
Trumps in vw
Tests to see whose the most knowlegdable
test to see whose scored more in which areas,
Beginners test
medium
advanced test etc
vw quiz tournaments.
Stats top speeds. 0 to 60s,
problems etc etc
Just an idea... but i feel this will make evryone strive to know more about their car differnt marks and general vw and cars in general.
IF this is here already forgive me as i am still relatively new and searching the site fully!
Let me know what you guys think.

Sounds like a lot of work for somebody. Are you volunteering?
-
sounds like a good idea but you can guarentee that whoever writes it there will be massive disagreement over the answers!!
-
 yeh most probably to the above!
Regarding it being alot of work for one person, im sure it would be. But considering there is over 7000 members im sure 5 or 10 out of those can gather enough info to make it happen! as for volunteering i wouldnt mind if i was given a section to look at. i have more time available in June.
Not meant to be chore ( not sure if spelt correctly), but dont we all have one thing in common, enjoying cars ?? or maybe not. :smug:

JV and me would romp the Golf Knowledge quiz :nerd:
-
VAG trumps sounds good, and would be happy to give up some time come july to help out!!
-
Good stuff lads im pleased u guys are welcoming the idea.
Thats just interest we need. I think JV and dizzie have set the first challenge!
Lets make it happen!
This potentially could sound cheesy but for example like if there is a tournament, then could hav forfiets such as free labour for an hr or day, free donation of parts etc.
Pot prize qiud entry 7000 members half enter £3500 maybe a mk1, mk2 16v,mk3, giveaway or however much.Skys the limit on whichever idea i guess.
Im not sure if any other sites have this idea, so you could get further members if u guys wanted or jus general interest and media. .
Basically i just wana see whose king of knowledge!

I doubt we have 3500 'active' members. A lot of people have less than 30 posts...

We could also start off with a little trivia... just to get your started ;)
1) Mk2 Golf 'Limited' front bumpers were different to standard mk2's... How?
2) How many Rallye's were produced in RHD?
3) The 'edition one' mk2's came in how many colours? name them.
4) The change over year for mk1's going small rear lights to larger was?
5) There was a mk3 'wolfsburg edition' released. True or false?
-
a couple qiuck answers, not sure how ive done for a first time, correct me if im wrong.
1) Big Bumpers which were introduced between 1989 and 1990. Different from the standard original small bumper introduced in early mk2 golfs. (with front fog-lamps and larger side rubbing strips)
2) None- As far as i know they were all produced in LHD and one found in RHD were converted after production for own personal use or better resell in th uk or other rhd countries. For me a real rallye is LHD
3)usually dark burgundy pearl or pearl grey
4)1980-
5)false

We could also start off with a little trivia... just to get your started ;)
1) Mk2 Golf 'Limited' front bumpers were different to standard mk2's... How? - i think they had a larger intake area under the number plate, to allow extra cooling for the rad.
2) How many Rallye's were produced in RHD? - none
3) The 'edition one' mk2's came in how many colours? name them. - Aubergine is the only colour i know but i think they came in 7 colours.
4) The change over year for mk1's going small rear lights to larger was? 1981
5) There was a mk3 'wolfsburg edition' released. True or false? false

off the top of my head...
1. black rubbing strips ?

5. not that i know of in this country.. but probably was in europe or america

The answers
1) the 'limited' didn't have a front number plate recess... JV recons the indicators are slightly bigger. I'm not sure myself.
2) everyone is correct
3) topher is correct
4) guv is correct
5) was false
-
5 - True, for US and Canada

after looking at pictures (not the best way to tell i know) the ltd bumper looks deeper than a normal small bumper.
