can I ask a sensible question before we degenerate into stupidity!

These hid conversions do they work on both dipped and main beam?
Are they available for twin headlights?

(sorry that was two!)

You'd need two sets for twin headlights, you can get hid kits for single bulb dipped/main beam, can't remember what they're called now, bi-??? work in the same was as H4 bulbs I think.

So I would need two of these Chinese made kits at 60/70 quid a pop to make a Huuuuuge difference in the lighting power of my headlights.
Hmmmmmm hardly seems worth it does it?

So what do the standard ones do? Only act on main beam or dipped?
Coz if its main beam only then you hardly use that anyway!

generally you would only need hid replacements for your dipped beam, as these are the lights you'll use most of the time whilst driving.

basically it'll improve your brightness and distance you can see. you must have seen a merc/porsch with hids coming up behind you, and their light illuminates further ahead and brigter than your own lights, even though they're a couple hundred metres behind you. and yet they don't blind (not supposed to anyway) oncoming traffic as it's only dipped beam.

my worry isn't whether hid kits are worthwhile, I think they do what it says on the tin, i'm more concerned about the quality of these cheaper kits. which usually go for £200-500 in UK, and manufacturers ask for £1k+ as an optional extra.

As I said earlier I am more than happy with my twins on dipped and most times I dont even bother to switch to main!

Likewise I wouldnt buy the cheap versions of twins, which are not as good as Hella's.

yea what do the Chinks know about driving? so why is the quality going to be any good?
