Die Täglich Vier
« on: 21 October 2010, 16:46 »
My latest......  "die täglich vier" or the daily four!

After selling my Passat, decided I wanted a 3 door mk3 GTi, but after looking for ages only saw rotten cars or overpriced tat, my attention was brought to a mk4 3door 1.8T on Ebay. Put in a daft offer on the Sunday morning of ED38X via my phone (still hungover from the Sat) and thought no more of it until I got notification that I had won it!

So a trip over to Keswick on the Monday and I brought this home....

First job was to debadge and fit a Mk5 rear wiper..

Then I turned my attention to the interior..

Before:

and after:

There are 7 differences, can you spot them! ;D

Awaiting delivery of new steering wheel, then turn my attention to the suspension/chassis.

Also collecting bits and bobs as I go, as this is a keeper and will be getting plenty of affection!!!

comments welcomed and I'll attempt to update as and when.

Got lots more "bits" to go on, when I'm ready. Had projects in the past but they always seemed to happen haphazardly with no direction! This one I intend to go do it properly.

Cant remember his name, was a youngish lad, who says he was selling to go travelling to Oz.

cheers, Chris

He called James? pretty sure I went to school with him if it is him, decent guy

Last time I saw him he told me he was planning on getting it mapped, that must have been a couple of months back so I guess he didn't go ahead with it!

Fair enough, keswick isn't a big place, didn't think there were any more gti's knocking about that I hadn't seen, obviously I was wrong!

Looking forward to seeing what you do with it anyway

Number plate surrounds are a nice touch.
