8v Bottom Pulley.

Slightly following on from this thread... http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=195111.msg1816373#msg1816373

I've got my mechanic friend changing my cambelt and tensioners while i'm away working and today he has rang me asking a question about the rubber doughnut bushed bottom pulley?!

He's saying that the timing manuals he has are saying that the AGG engine doesn't have this kind of bottom pulley, but Autodata is saying that the engine should be an AKL? (I can't recall if that is the right 3 letters - I may have made them up lol)  The block/head does have AGG stamped into it tho.

Anyway, because this rubber bush or whatever it is has worn over the years there is slight movements anti and clockwise which isn't allowing him to time the engine correctly.

Does any of this sound right?  Makes no sense to me!!

Any advice?  Can the bottom pulley be swapped for a normal pulley?

HELP! lol

Thanks!
Cheers,

Paul.
